Formula D: A Chameleon Preview

As we continue to plow through photos from this past weekend at Formula D Road Atlanta I would like to take a minute to sit back and share this bad-ass Silvia S15 with everyone.  Formula D’s main event was held this past Saturday, but Friday consisted of the top 32 qualification for Saturday’s battle.  When all was said and done with the qualifiers, the top 32 professional drivers got to go at it, literally, for 2 hours on the track at night for a practice session.  It was truly an awesome experience because the character of the cars change COMPLETELY once the sun passes the horizon.  One car that expresses its character in such a drastic way in the heat of the night is Michihiro Takatori’s Drift Emporium S15. Aside from wild supercharged Titan V8 that is jammed in that bay, take a look at this brilliant chameleon paint job.  Damn this is gangster!

I only had one chance in this lighting to catch the various changes in the paint as this car raced by.  Displayed below is six different shades of the paint through the night light, however there was easily 10+ colors.  I just didn’t get them all.  For all of the hardparkers out there, this is how chameleon paint should work.

Hello Green!

Hello Green!

Now if that isn’t an awesome chameleon job, I don’t know what is.  Amazing!  If these photos gave you the whining sound of that supercharger and rumble of that massive V8 under that hood, you would definitely need a change of undies.  Stay tuned for the rest!

Wow, what a crazy weekend!
If you’ve been paying attention, myself and JohnP made a weekend trip to Atlanta, GA to check out the local drift scene and to watch the pros hit up Road Atlanta, the premier drift track in the Southeast for FormulaD. While FormulaD’s main course was of course the hot drift action on the main track, there were a TON of other things to do to keep your attention. Among these attractions, one stood out like a sore thumb, the Fatlace One of One carshow.

Weekend Trip: Keep Drifting Fun Invades Texas

This past weekend we ventured out to Austin, Texas to catch a little bit of drifting in the sun at a local show called Mean Streets, where the streets are mean.  Anyhow, this event was by no means of normal standard because the infamous Will Roegge and Joshua Herron were on a mission, a Keep Drifting Fun mission, and this event was one of their nationwide stops for their documentary.

On the Run Girl Style: Aubre Houck’s Kouki 240sx

A couple of weeks ago, MaydayGarage was on a mission across Texas to catch driver profiles of the recent Import Reactor Drift event that happened here in Houston last week. In 2 days we shot 5 cars, and 4 profiles. We had traveled to Dallas, Texas on our first day of the trek to meet up with our good friend Stewart Leask and shoot his driver profile. When we had arrived to D-town Stew asked us if we had some extra time to snap some shots his girlfriend, Aubre Houck’s car. Now, I know that there are some tuner girls out there, but, just because you are a girl doesn’t mean we will take your car lightly; all is fair in the world of tuning. Being the typical guy I assumed that Aubre’s car would be relatively mild or overly done H.I.N. style, boy was I wrong.

OTWeb: OneofOne x Formula Drift x Fatlace @ FD LongBeach Rd. 1 = Win!

This past weekend on the west coast was the season opener of Formula Drift Season at Long Beach, CA. Many things were in the mix as people witnessed the arrival of some new faces, sponsors, and of course the MUCH anticipated OneofOne Showcase, a collaboration between the notorious Fatlace Crew and Formula D. Bringing a new flavor of car show to the table in the Formula D series, the Stay Fresh crew had a great debut, check out this video shot by one of the Stay Fresh Crew’s own Daniel Kruthanooch.
