Lone Star Bash 2010: A Host’s Perspective.

“May 16, 2010 marked the date of the second Lone Star Bash. LSB as we will refer to it is an idea more than anything. Basically by labeling an event such as this, everyone knows exactly what event they need to ALL come out to, all at once. LSB is a date to bring everyone together. There are no draws like prize money, naked import models, trophies, cotton ball smoke on top of mirrors, or any of that. The draw is hanging out with awesome people that think alike, tandeming 10 cars deep with 100 mph entries, partying the night before, and being a part of something big. While the car show scene has died out in the last few years, leaving the giants HIN and NOPI dead, the drift scene has exploded. And yet it has stayed very grass roots at the same time.

From The Outside Looking In: A Texan’s View Of FormulaD: Atlanta Pt. 2

In part one, I kinda went over how my past experiences with FormulaD were, all on a high note. Being at FormulaD Atlanta was something else. It was like what I remember from the Houston event, but on some serious roids. They say everything in Texas is bigger, which for the most part is true, but I gotta hand it to Atlanta, they knew what was up.

This Falken girl was SMOKING HOT, just like all day friday at Road Atlanta

Reminder: Texas Lonestar Bash is today!

Words from Aaron Losey:
“I humbly present to you the Lonestarbash. The most epic of all the events, the one to rule them all, and in the darkness give you blood alcohol poisoning. The epicness will be amazing, this is by far the craziest event of the year. Go and you will understand what Texas drifting is all about.

In all seriousness, I created this event to bring everyone together at the same time, so we can have the most amazing event Texas has ever seen. Last year we succeeded X 10! The whole point is by providing everyone with one target event to go to, the MUST go to event of the year, everyone gets together at the same time. Sounds simple, but what it means is a bunch of parties all over the place, crazy stories, 10 + car tandem, amazing photography and video coming out of the event, and a huge show for the spectators. The proceeds of last years Lonestarbash were responsible for renting us a road course this year, at Grand Sport Speedway. So the event is really double edged, in that it gets everyone together for something magical, and then gives it back later on!”

Everyone’s going! Where are YOU gonna be?

From The Outside Looking In: A Texan’s View Of FormulaD Atlanta Part 1.

I could tell you who won the second round of FormulaD: Atlanta, I could tell you what types of turbos and superchargers were used on some of the drift cars there, I could even tell you the weight of each car, but I won’t.

That would just be me regurgitating statistics and specs, and nobody goes to a drift event to know how much horsepower team xxx is running, no, they go cause of the excitement that Formula Drift is known for. There are no numbers to describe what it feels like there.

FD Road Atlanta Random Snap: The Aero Challenged Drifter

As we prepare for our final Formula D Atlanta post tomorrow I would like to throw down this snap of quite possibly the most aerodynamically challenged competitive drifter.  I mean, it’s one thing if wind challenges you head on, but sideways as well…man, you have to have some skill.  No your eyes are not deceiving you, this is a Honda Element, and yes, it did haul some ass at Road Atlanta.
