And a Side of Charm: Tyler Horne’s Retrotastic Royal Enfield Sidecar Bike.

Back in September, I had the pleasure of meeting up Tyler Horne, a local car guy in Houston that’s hellbent on spreading the good word on healthy eating by running multiple farmer’s markets all around the city. Although Urban Harvest is his baby, his passion is cars and bikes just like the rest of us gearheads. I’ve known Tyler for a little while now, so when he asked if he could have some photos taken of his newest obsession, I told him he should have one of the other Mayday guys take the photos because I really don’t consider myself capable of taking outstanding photos, but more importantly, I wanted the photos to do the bike and owner justice.

HOLY SHIT. MAYDAYGARAGE IS BUILDING A RAUH WELT 993!

Secrets don’t make friends.

The only picture we ever leaked of our "intentions", Danny and Haas removing the motor from the 993

That box costs more than the damn car.

We now know that dreams are made of fiberglass.

Oh so you're a fan of dish? We've got you covered.

Mayday Garage Event News: The Mayday Lonestar Run

The Lonestar Run. Houston’s official roll out to Ft. Worth for WekFest.

The Lonestar Run is strictly for entertainment purposes only. It is not a race, therefore Mayday Garage is not responsible for any tickets, deaths, explosions or offensive material such as mooning that happen this run.

Now that being said, Meet-Up time is 9:00am at Greenspoint Mall in the main parking lot and roll-out will be 10:00 SHARP on Friday October 14th.

Some people are going to ask why we are leaving at 10AM on Friday and not 5-6pm and the answer is real simple, traffic. Having multiple cars in a “caravan” during rush hour sucks for everyone, therefore 10AM it is so we avoid the morning rush hour and afternoon rush hour traffic.

Secondly, some people will ask why we are leaving on Friday and not super hella early on Saturday morning. The answer is that we all love to party our asses off on Friday before the show, so, if you want to party with us, then roll out on Friday!

Now, on to the details.

The Lonestar Run. –

When: October 14th, 2011

Where: Greenspoint Mall, 12300 N. Freeway, The corner of 45N and BW8.

Time: 9:00AM Meet, 10:00AM Roll-out

Destination: Ft. Worth Texas

Rules of the Lonestar Run:

1.) Mayday Garage is not responsible for any tickets, wrecks, or broken down cars that one may encounter on The Lonestar Run.
2.) This is not a Cannonball/Gumball 3000 style race; it is a Fun Run/Cruise style of event. “Excessive” speeding is not encouraged..
3.) No Mooning on the Lonestar Run
4.) All Texas State Driving laws are in effect, State Troopers have every right to pull you over if you are driving outside of the law, as mentioned before, Mayday is not responsible for people’s buffoonery.
5.) Respect other drivers
6.) Have Fun!

As for the rest of the details, they will be announced the day of the Lonestar Run.

Until then ladies and gents.

See you guys on the 14th!

Event Coverage: Wek’Fest Pre-Meet at Baker Tuning part 2.

In part one of our coverage, I just posted a bunch of pictures, cause I was just wanting to throw out a small portion of our pictures before the internet got flooded with others.

So now I’m gonna throw out a LOT more photos so our readers can see what went down.

Ronald's 1JZ powered FD was turning all sorts of heads

And here they started to roll in and it wasn't even time for meet to start!

The Powerful and Fabulous PowerFab G35. All show, and all Go.

Yes, people weren't just sitting by their cars...

The Strictly G'z crew showed up in strong numbers.

If you guessed this FD had a non-rotary motor, you guessed right.

The crowd listens as JohnP calls out Bingo Balls.

Jk. He was calling out names in our free raffle for swag, but on weekends JohnP does play Bingo

Mind. Blown. Jorge’s Crazy Sick and Lightning Quick TechArt GT Street RS 911 GT2RS

Yeah, that’s a lot of adjectives and one super lengthy name for a car. If it were entirely up to me (which, let’s not kid ourselves, it is, but we have a lot of readers with short attention spans), I would have described it with no less than 15 different adjectives, because even then, it wouldn’t be enough to properly describe Jorge M’s fantastic TechArt GT Street RS 911 GT2RS.

Two words come to mind. What was it again? Oh yeah, "Holy Shit."

Jorge didn't really feel comfortable trusting a valet with his car, so he parked it the best way he knew how. Like a BOSS.

Admit it. You want it.

Announcement: MaydayGarage x Baker Tuning Presents- Wek’Fest Pre Meet 9/17

MaydayGarage and Baker Tuning are proud to present the official Pre-Meet for Wek’Fest this Saturday, the 17th at Baker Nissan!

Baker Nissan was generous enough to allow us to use their enormous facility to host our meet there. You’ll get a chance to check out some of the Baker Tuning cars as well as check out their huge shop. Food, music and free WekSos swag, and a chance to meet up with your fellow showgoers. Chicago had the same thing with Canibeat and Fizz Autosports for their Pre Meet, and now it’s our turn to show them how it’s done. If you can’t make the actual Wek’Fest Show in Ft. Worth on 10/15, you can at least attend this free meet right here in Houston.

Wash up those rides because you know we are going to take a butt ton of photos while we’re out there, and you know it’s going to be posted all over the interwebz.

For those of you who couldn’t come to our private meet, here’s your chance to strut your stuff, so bring that shit.

An Opulence of Style: Dennis To’s Silky Smooth Mazda RX-8.

If I was given a dollar for every car that has been thrown at me to consider featuring on MaydayGarage, I’d have enough money to buy myself a set of decent wheels for the daily. When I get the opportunity to check out local meets, i’m always in scouting mode, scanning the endless sea of imports to find “that” car. Sometimes I’ll strike out, but then sometimes I’ll come across a car that will instantly catch my eye.

JTran Studios Summer Meet ver. 2011.

JTran Studios, named aptly after it’s owner, Johnny Tran (not the guy who got narc’d out), has been a positive driving force in Houston’s Tuner scene since owning Wings West Touring wings were cool. As such, this local North Houston shop which houses an AWD Mustang Dyno and work-bays-a-plenty, has seen it’s fair share of different types of trends fall and rise. Something I absolutely admire about JTran studios is it’s “Total Tuning” mindset which is very common to see in tuner shops in Japan. What is “Total Tuning”? In a word, everything. Suspension work, big brake conversions, interiors, sound systems, aero work, and of course engine modifications that are include, but not limited to; forced induction, dyno tuning, fabrication and serious engine builds. Some shops concentrate on only one or two areas, but the folks at JTran Studios “get it”, and the cars that come from this respective shop are typically cars that we see setting the bar at meets and shows here locally.
