Wek-Fest 2010: MaydayGarage coverage pt. 1

So, we continue our coverage of Wek-Fest. As we had mentioned before, we had been awoken to the sound of exhausts and scraping frames at about 6:00am on Sunday morning.  When I had run outside of the hotel to see what the hell was going on, it was apparent that cars were already starting to line up to enter the show. ...

Wek-Fest 2010: A Preview

This past weekend we ventured out to California to check out Wek-Fest in Japantown, San Francisco.  When we heard that this show consisted of Nor-Cal’s finest, we really did not know what to expect, the anxiety was killing us the whole way to San Fran.  With us being from Houston all we could hope for was what has come to us in blog features or what hits the magazine stands. We were sure in for a surprise though, not only were expectations met, but they were surpassed.  These crews rolled out hard, and I sure as hell cannot remember the last time a tuner show I went to had that level of energy, it was damn impressive.

No room for the Wek.

Events: SF Wek’Fest 2010 : JapanTown San Francisco

Soooo, this weekend I will be flying out to San Francisco from Texas for what I believe is one of California’s most hype, up and coming car shows, Wek'Fest.  I mean, how can you even deny the fact that these guys over there at Wek'Fest / Wek'Sos sold out of 450 spots in the span of 9 days.  Shit, people better take note because these guys obviously know what they are doing and that is how come I am rolling out there.  First stop will be Fatlace, some restaurants,  then party it up with Ben Terry from Stanceworks, Mayday Mikeyy, and hopefully meet up with Cipher Garage and Motormaven's own Antonio Alvendia.  Stay tuned for coverage from this event, California’s top Hard Parkers in Japantown San Francisco is definitely something you dont want to miss.  For More information visit WEK-FEST site. Check out that roll call, dayum, I can't wait!

So who all is going??

Random Snap: Swang ‘N’ Bang Beer Holder.

If you guys don't already know, there is a group of hardcore fitment kings named Swang 'N' Bang. If you are ever in Texas, and you see a group of super slammed, tucked, stretched and poking cars, you can bet your sweet ass it's Swang 'N' Bang. I was on their blog site, and this picture just made me chuckle.

Event News: One/One Showcase by Fatlace meets Formula D!

With the recent collapse of Hot Import Nights last year and the growing pains in the tuner car show industry, Fatlace heavyweight and tuning OG, Mark Arcenal, has stepped up to the plate.

"Formula DRIFT in conjunction with Fatlace, LLC, is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural ONE OF ONE, the Fatlace Car Show Series. ONE OF ONE is the official Car Show Series of Formula DRIFT and will be held at each 2010 Formula DRIFT event nationwide. The first show of the series will go down at Formula DRIFT Round 1: Streets of Long Beach, adjacent to the track."

OTWeb: Classic Tuning

Sitting here in the office this morning, I was rummaging through some old picture archives of some random shots accumulated over the years of cars that I have loved. And I whipped up some food for thought, sometimes we get wrapped up so much in the new fads that we forget what..well...still gets it up. <3

Random Snap: Dragging Ass.

Sometimes being low comes at a cost. In this case, former MaydayGarage feature car owner, Mikey is seen here testing out a new Dart Izumi exhaust only to find out that because the car is super slammed, the exhaust has only about a 1/2" clearance. Time for some modifications by the guys at 786Motoring!

First Look: Ameen Rizvi’s Balls Out Toyota Cressida.

As I write this post, Ameen Rizvi and the 786 Motoring crew are still driving through Arizona with precious cargo aboard. The cargo in question is proof of a Labor of Love put together through the last several years by Ameen. The 1989 Toyota Cressida is undoubtably the sole reason why the road trip exists. The destination is the sunny skies of Irwindale, California, host to this weekend's Formula D Pro-Am.

OTWeb: Best picture ever.

There are car pics, and then there are CAR PICS. This picture, which I grabbed from a Jspek picture thread, is probably one of my favorite pictures of all time. There are so many different interpretations from this, I don't even know where to begin.

I hope my future wife is as cool as this lady.
