Lone Star Bash 2010: A Host’s Perspective.
"May 16, 2010 marked the date of the second Lone Star Bash. LSB as we will refer to it is an idea more than anything. Basically by labeling an event such as this, everyone knows exactly what event they need to ALL come out to, all at once. LSB is a date to bring everyone together. There are no draws like prize money, naked import models, trophies, cotton ball smoke on top of mirrors, or any of that. The draw is hanging out with awesome people that think alike, tandeming 10 cars deep with 100 mph entries, partying the night before, and being a part of something big. While the car show scene has died out in the last few years, leaving the giants HIN and NOPI dead, the drift scene has exploded. And yet it has stayed very grass roots at the same time.

Chaos has a name: Import Reactor Drift 2010 coverage
Wow. What. A. Weekend.
The week started with Smoky Nagata from Top Secret Japan tuning Nissans from Monday all the way through wednesday late night, and it closed with Import Reactor Unlimited and Anime Matsuri. But before the official and epic weekend got started, Import Reactor Drift was to be the opening ceremonies to Import Reactor Unlimited.

Event Coverage: N.S.T. 5th Anniversary Drift Competition & Car Show Part 1.
This past sunday, the good folks over at NonStopTuning, a.k.a. NST, celebrated their illustrious 5 year anniversary in La Marque, TX with over one thousand close friends and family! While some businesses celebrate with cheaply made cake and cheesy party hats, NST took it a few steps further by holding a drift competition and car show held at Gulf Greyhound Park just south of Houston. Despite the bitter forty degree weather, that didn't seem to stop the hundreds of spectators from (as JohnP so eloquently put it) getting their drift fix. Luckily, there wasn't any disappointment from the drifters as they put on their multiple layers of clothing and kept their heads warm in their helmets.
Event Coverage: N.S.T. 5 year anniversary drift event! pt. 0 a preview.
This past Sunday MaydayGarage was out kicking it with our local Texas drifters for the Non Stop Tuning 5 year anniversary drift event. Mike, owner and founder of N.S.T. and local drift icon Aaron Losey from Fabricated Motorsports put on the drift competition and car show. 40 degrees and a slight wind chill was the welcoming weather for a pretty chilly exhibition of drift as we all literally froze our butts off. But hot as hell or cold as hell, we always find ourselves weathering it out to get our sideways fix.
First Look: Ameen Rizvi’s Balls Out Toyota Cressida.
As I write this post, Ameen Rizvi and the 786 Motoring crew are still driving through Arizona with precious cargo aboard. The cargo in question is proof of a Labor of Love put together through the last several years by Ameen. The 1989 Toyota Cressida is undoubtably the sole reason why the road trip exists. The destination is the sunny skies of Irwindale, California, host to this weekend's Formula D Pro-Am.
Houston: GGP Drift Event Coverage pt.2
Continuing from part one of Mayday's coverage of the Houston-area September 13th drift event...
One of the greatest things I like about local, grassroots motor sports events is the people that come out to them. Of course it's always great to see the drift cars, but for many, the event is a great excuse to get out and catch up with some friends and acquaintances. For me, it's fun to see both old and new faces and to see what new toys people have since the last time i've seen their cars.
Houston: GGP Drift Event Coverage pt.1
Heat, Breeze, Heat, Rain, Heat again was the weather pattern for the local grassroots drift event that was hosted this weekend by Aaron Loosely at Gulf Greyhound Park. The turnout this weekend was better than I expected with everyone keeping the "whips" indoors until the much anticipated Lonestar Bash that will be going down in October. It is good to see more of these types events going on, as the local drift community was going through bit of a stall there for a bit. Lots of action on Sunday, from great solo runs to 5 car tandems it was a very entertaining event. Friends, Cars, Girls and Speed...what better way to spend a Sunday.
