The Crowd Pleaser. Sometimes.

We know you’ve all seen Khiem’s FD RX-7 a billion times on the internet, but for whatever reason, most people have never “really” seen it aside from some small local car meets. Lately, it’s been on stage at last month’s Cars & Coffee and even more recently, TX2K14, where this type of car belongs.

When the hood goes up, everyone crowds around within seconds at Cars & Coffee

Sitting pretty with the three rotary powered FD's at TX2K14

Most people think FD's don't make an insane amount of power, especially at TX2K

Until that hood goes up

I believe "dick magnet" is the correct term as Linhbergh and Khiem demonstrates

Simplicity is Key.

You would think that the guys at Mayday Garage are all about wild shit on cars based on how some of us modify our cars, but you’d be wrong if you thought that’s all we enjoy. Although “Wheels and a drop” is a common phrase you’ll see on many car forums, sometimes, just sometimes, it has some truth behind it. Take these two examples below: One is a four door 3-series BMW and the other is a Toyota MR2 Turbo. At first glance, they may both seem like stockish cars, but there’s something to be said about certain cars that don’t necessarily “need” aero enhancements. The gunmetal centers on this black BMW accent the dark, sinister look of the Bimmer, and the bright gold centers on the BBS LM’s pop so much against the green SW20 MR2. While the US definitely went through a clean OEM +1 look for years, we feel that today’s trends are leading to more radical looks as seen on the latest Rocket Bunny/Liberty Walk/RWB creations, but there’ll always be a place for fine machines that won’t lose their appeal over time with a great set of wheels, clean paint, and a good lowered stance.

Random Snap: Pit Stop.

One of the joys of owning a Pit Bull is that you get to see how happy they are when they’re near people. Takata’s whole butt moves from side to side as she wags her little puppy tail when people approach her ready to pet her soft coat. Likewise, Joy’s red nose Pit Bull, an extra large boy named Turbo, is always happy to meet new people, and especially, kids.

Despite what mainstream media would like to tell you, Pit Bulls are great with kids, and were even used as nannies before they were used as status symbols by not-so-savory types. So while I was relaxing under the IAG tent during this past Sunday’s College Park Tuning Springtime event, I noticed a little girl that was so excited to ask Joy for permission to pet the dog that was three times her size. She gave him some affection, and in typical Pit Bull fashion, Turbo loved every second, wagging his tail and smelling the little girl’s hands. I managed to snap off this pic while holding Takata with my other hand.

Pit Bulls - One of the greatest breeds

Just wanted to share a moment that made me smile.

More photos coming soon of this event!

A Day at Import Face-Off.

It’s cold here in the NE. Not like blizzard cold, mind you, but cold enough where people just don’t plain drive their cars. If you’ve noticed recently, I haven’t put up much content from here in Maryland, and I’ve even posted two pictures of my daily car, the Miata, on the blog which isn’t something I would normally do. The reason? It’s freaking cold, man!
