Everything’s Lower in Texas

If you’re not from Houston, you may wonder why every other tuner car is so low here. “Most” of Houston is low car friendly, typically in the suburbs and the freeways are usually the flattest compared to other states. But it also helps that every other car is also bagged here. I’ve always found it funny that everyone claims that their city has the worst streets for dumped cars. I can honestly say Houston for the most part has very driveable streets, and starting next week- the fastest as well.

Static?

Definitely bagged.

The reverse rake on this one seems odd.

The Road Less Traveled.

Oftentimes, people tend to forget that everyone is different. After all, everyone has their own tastes, styles, and opinions. We see far too often car “enthusiasts” that bash on others for their pick on aero, suspension and of course, powerplants. While we get the typical “Ricer!” comments here and there, we are self proclaimed ricers and embrace that label, negative or not. Khiem gets the most comments on his 2JZGTE powered FD3S RX-7 from many purists, and he, like many others before him, have learned to not to take the internet so SRS, and to do what he does.

This past Sunday at our weekly meet at Catalina Coffee, we came across another car that I personally thought was cool as fuck. Ben Norrell’s 5.0L Mustang powered convertible E36 is slammed, caged, and loud as hell. In other words, bloody awesome. We look past Horsepower-per-liter, Power-to-dollar and purist attitudes and enjoy cars for what they are- another man’s (or woman) work of automotive art. While Ben got MUCH hate on our Instagram video, he, like Khiem, brushed it off like a true gentleman and watched the fireworks.

from here it looks like any other slammed E36 Vert

Besides the obvious, we really liked the cleanliness of the bay among other things

Hood closed, you would never know. Oh except it sounds like a bat out of hell.

Once you go black?

We got a chance to catch up with Andre Mikhaylov, an old school ricer that lives in Houston. Believe it or not, his Berlina Black NA1 NSX is also his daily. It being NSX #2 for Andre, he knows exactly what he wanted this time around, and it’s really great to see such a nice and unusual car being put through it’s daily paces. I asked him why he chose to daily an NSX to which he replied, “It’s a Honda”. Point taken.

They don't make profiles like this anymore.

Mean Green Machine.

This little NB Miata proves that these cars can look both sexy and aggressive with a little bit of help in the aero department and some nicely fitting SSR SP1’s.

Dem eyes doe.

The side profile is very FD like, and you know we get hard ons for that.

Here's a better look at that sick hood and cage.

Cars and Coffee March.

Sometimes we try to make the trek to Vintage Park for the Monthly Houston Cars and Coffee which is held on the first Saturday of the month. The only reason why we don’t come to all of them is because you gotta be there well before the asscrack of dawn. Hell, the rows and rows of Mustangs are there at who knows what time. The Houston RX Club invited us out so we brought out the FD’s and Dennis To’s RX8 to join them at 6am. Fun, but too early.

Houston definitely has people with absurd amounts of money.

The plate says it all.

The only RX-8 with us, but he did well reppin the SE3P's!

FD's for days
