Houston: One Clean 240sx

In the last few years, 240sx’s have been synonymous with drifting. Although this is still true today, many people also have an image of a busted, tracked, beat-down, multi-colored and big bodykitted car teeming with dents and “drift damage”. To many, this look is desirable and even sometimes considered “cool”, and for some others, it just won’t do.

OTWeb: Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s longest drift record “unofficially” broken?

A post released this morning at MotorMavens.com, blogger Faruk M. Kagay wrote that professional drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s longest drift record, of 6285ft (non-stop on one set of tires in dry condition), was “unofficially” broken at the International Drift Series’ Round 5 in Germany by Alexander Gräff. Faruk mentions, “Alexander Gräff had come to the event to not only compete, but also to try to publicly break the unofficial Worlds Longest Drift Record (in the dry, with one set of tires) set by Vaughn Gittin Jr. Unfortunately an accident, with his wife (yes, his wife is also a pro drifter!), ended his hopes of doing it in his own “Polizei” BMW 528i drift car.” Going on Faruk explains, “Alex had the motivation to continue to attempt the record in a LPG C6 Z06 Corvette provided to him by GreenAutoGas. Recording over 2,500 meters (8200ft!), he broke the record” More information on this can be found at Faruk M. Kagay’s story on Motormavens! .

To make this official, does Guinness, or some type of committee need to be present? Also, for the record, Vaughn Gittin Jr. DID perfom his feat in a showroom stock Mustang. I wonder if this has any impact on this attempt. I am sure if Vaughn Gittin Jr. unleashes with the Falken Mustang, he might be able to break 10,000 ft, any takers?

Houston: Texas VIP Style movement

At a recent car show I attended, I spotted this G35 that I had to take pictures of. TunerlifestyleTV hosted this show and of all the cars at the show, there was one team that stood out from the rest, Refined Elegance. For those of you outside of Houston, Refined Elegance is a local group of luxury-minded enthusiasts who show hard with their VIP-inspired rides.

Funny how many people from different states think that only Cali knows how to build VIP styled cars. Not true. A perfect example is Zeem’s (aka KalvinMaui) 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan. The car was originally black, but an intricate color change to a very cool Lexus IS350 Glacier Frost Mica brings out all of the smooth flowing lines of the G35. The car is slammed thanks to the air ride and compliments the Leon Hardiritts perfectly. The rear fenders were subtly widened to accommodate the larger wheels without any issues.
This car is an awesome of example of planning and execution done right.

OTWeb: Exvitermini hunting

I have a fascination with an old website that used to be around called www.exvitermini.com.  Although, if you go to that site you will receive this message, “server crashed :( exvitermini will be back soon!” I don’t know what they mean by soon, as this site has been down for years.  The site be a holy grail of videos that portrayed a variety of tuning aspects in Japan and some from Europe. Some of the classics consisted Smokey Nagata’s Wangan runs, street drifting, high hp drag skylines, and much more.  Below is a short clip of one of the drifting videos that used to be linked on that site. I “think” this video is a clip from a Best Motoring or some other compliation at the time. I am probably wrong, feel free to chime in. Pay attention to the aesthetics of this car, the offset, and the stance.  I believe this video was made pre 2003, (first time I saw was 2004) but I am not exactly sure.  Hopefully someone can chime in on the driver as well, as they are mixed answers everywhere I check.  I love the cinematography, this is classic, pre-HD, driver focused filming.

Only 2 minutes

And here is another classic FROM the exvitermini people. High HP Skyline.

Serious, exvitermini was the bomb. If anyone has the old exvitermini videos saved, I would love to catch some! Let me know,

Houston: Kimo last minute meet pt.2

By the time I had left the event I realized that I had only taken a few pictures! That is what happens when you are visiting with old friends and having a good time. Many people were complaining about the heat, but it was ONLY 93 degrees outside; it could have been worse, could have been 100 + 100% humidity like what we were experiencing at some events this summer. I can’t wait till fall. Pictures by me, nothing great, some shot out of focus, and no editing..enjoy.

Houston: Kimo’s Last minute Meet @ Bear Creek pt. 1

If there is one thing that Houston has, it is some fun meets. Yesterday at Bear Creek Park here in Houston a last minute team meet was held. Kimo, an originator of Team Sunworks hosted the meet at the park starting at 3:00pm and went until night fall. I had a really good time, and saw some faces that I haven’t seen in a while. Being an event organizer myself, I have to admit that the one thing about this industry that never gets old is the people; it is always refreshing to meet up and chill with people that have the same interests as you. Below are some pictures taken by David Do of the Mayday Collective, I will get some of mine up a bit later.
