When our fellow Mayday Garage member asked to have his Miata bumper lights converted to LEDs by Car Shop GLOW, we thought we’d bring it to market and see if people with NA (90-97) Miatas would like it as much as Fabio did. So here we are!
We at Mayday Garage and Car Shop GLOW had an amazing weekend at StanceNation Texas in Dallas, as we officially debuted the CSG x MG S2K AP2 LED taillights for the first time to the general public. We had quite the reaction as Tom displayed the lights on what would be the Best of Show at StanceNation. We listened to everyone’s questions, concerns and critiques. The lights you see on Tom’s car are only prototypes and we can safely say that the new finalized product will be a shade lighter with the smoking process as many have requested the lights not be tinted as dark. Also, the lights will go through one more testing phase in Japan after it makes its rounds to our brothers in Canada at Circuit Garage, the official Car Shop GLOW dealers for Canada. The lights are currently in transition to be shown off on the Circuit Garage S2K Demo car, and with Stephan’s AP2, it should complete the two different types of cars we expect to see the lights on, high end Japanese circuit cars (we have a very famous one we expect to show off the lights in Japan) and the super elite show/street cars here in the USA.
Again, let me emphasize the fact that these lights are not for everyone. We are pricing these lights at $1799 USD, and this is the absolute lowest we could go on the lights. Keep in mind that our complete 3 piece FD3S lights are $1399 USD, and that these lights are different in that we had to source brand new in box OEM Honda Japan AP2 tail lights due to the scarcity of the lights in the Japanese used market. Each tail light is hand made by Ken at Car Shop GLOW in Japan and are tested individually before shipping to us here in the USA. The lights, just like the FD RX-7 lights, will have a 6 month warranty which covers any manufacturer defects and will be facilitated by either us or Circuit Garage in Canada.
The lights are not for everyone, and we do not expect to sell many. We are simply providing a product that does not yet exist in the market. Many will take a different route due to the price, and there are many ways to go, and we encourage everyone to try out whatever works for your own car and budget, but for the few that want to have a cool light to add that finishing touch to the rear of your S2000, and appreciate a quality part, we have what you’ve been looking for.
Pre orders will start in about two weeks, and we will let everyone know where we are in the process via our site, IG and FB.
Team Mayday Garage
Yes, we have our very first batch of Car Shop GLOW LED tail lights for the FD3S RX-7, and we gave them a go on one of our FD’s and brought it out to last night’s Ricer Wednesday meet at our Food Truck, The Rice Box. The lights are in original OEM Mazda Housings super polished to bring out the original black housings that extra special shine, and are properly sealed to avoid condensation. We are currently taking detailed photos of the lights in our studio, as well as photos of the lights compared with OEM/JDM lights in both direct sunlight and not. First impressions are very good, and you’ll be able to see that in the photos. Each set will come with a warranty card signed by Car Shop GLOW as well as a few high quality stickers. Videos will also be shown so you can see for yourselves.
We have had our inboxes blown up with people wanting to secure the lights for themselves, so to answer what most of you are asking, the price is set at $999USD not including shipping. We ARE going through a change on our site and we WILL have a new online store for you to be able to purchase these much sought after lights. Please be patient with us as we are wanting to do this the right way, and not take any shortcuts. In the meantime, check out the first set of CarShopGLOW x MaydayGarage LED taillights in the USA!
We recently had the pleasure of bringing some of the best photogs from California to Texas in time for TX2K14, and were able to watch these two monsters work their cameras. Every day, every morning, we would all meet up at 6:30am sharp at Catalina Coffee, and shoot 1-2 cars in the morning, get coffee, get lunch, crash out, wake up and meet again at Catalina Coffee at 5:30pm every night, everyday, and shoot 1-2 cars in the evening, then get coffee, get dinner, go out and race. Wash, rinse, repeat.
To say it was a hectic week would be an understatement. Trying to coordinate 14 photoshoots with two different photographer is not something I would ever want to do again -without coffee.
More photos to come,
Taken from our Coffee and Rice Sunday morning meets, here’s one of our FD RX-7’s chillin’ at BoomTown Coffee in the Heights, Houston.
Join us one day!
Everyone knows we throw some pretty cool meets. We don’t do them too often because if they’re not cool, we won’t do them at all.
Weksos Industries asked us some time ago to host the WekFest TX official Pre Meet and it is our pleasure to present to you what we’ve been working on for quite some time.
On December 14th, 2013, the night before the WekFest TX car show, we will be hosting Houston’s largest Street Style meet we’ve ever attempted at the 8th Wonder Brewery located on 2202 Dallas St, Houston, TX 77003.
Mayday Garage has rented out the brewery for the entire night, and 8th Wonder Brewery will be giving out free beer tours, as well as pouring $3 pints all night long (CASH ONLY!). If you haven’t heard of this brewery, it was started by the same guys that own and operate The Eatsie Boys food truck, which will also be in attendance. Speaking of food trucks, no ricer meet would be complete without bringing out our very own food truck, The Rice Box.
We have also collaborated with our long time friend, Joey Lee, aka, Stickydiljoe, aka The Chronicles to help us throw this awesome event. With his help, we will be pulling cars from all around the TX and third coast states.
With everyone coming in from different cities and states for the greatest car show in Houston, it’s time to show the rest of the world how Houston gets down. We’ve all built our cars to drive, park or track it to our tastes, and it’s time to show where our Street culture lives- on the street.
We have driven up and down the surrounding streets where the Brewery is located and although there are a few dips and bumps around, every car can make it through, IF you use common sense. We will post a “Dumped Friendly” route soon as we get closer to the date.
More details to come.
Prepare thy anuses.
