Mayday Garage Year in Review 2014: Part 2.

Onto part 2 of our year in review post!

Something the local guys here in Houston know about Mayday Garage is our commitment to keep hosting meets for people to gather. We are known for two particular weekly meets; Ricer Wednesdays and Coffee and Rice on Sundays. Ricer Wednesday was originally started as a means to help promote our food truck, The Rice Box, which is held near downtown Houston on a very lively street in the Montrose District. Ricer Wednesday is always interesting to us because of the different crews that roll out to enjoy street style cars in a very unique part of town while enjoying great Chinese food. Be it groups of swapped Hondas, cliques of Subaru fanatics or a gang of modified Honda Ruckus’, there’s always something new, and that in itself is exciting enough to show up every week as a lot of people do.

Mayday Garage: Year in Review 2014. Part 1.

Howdy!
We do realize that we’ve been slacking on making regular blog posts for the last 6 months or so, and we have vowed to change that in 2015. We will be introducing new things, and new events that have been in the pipeline for quite some time. Over the next few days, we wanted to take the time to show everyone what we’ve been doing for all of 2014. We hope that you will enjoy the picture heavy posts coming!

To kick things off, we started the new year by bringing in some old friends from the great state of California, the mecca of automotive tuning. We’ve traveled all over the country making new friends, but it was clear that we haven’t really shown anyone our hometown, Houston, TX. We flew in Patrick Lauder of Quickworks photo who resides in the Bay Area, NorCal and our ‘Ancient Chinese Secret’ buddy, John Zhang of 1013mm who lives on the other side of Cali, Los Angeles. We invited them out to Texas to come check out TX2K14 and to also help them with earning some bank by lining up a plethora of tuned cars for them both to shoot for print.

In the end, we think we showed our Cali brothers how we get down in H-Town, and they have both confirmed that they will be back. Of course, we will be visiting them again in their home state in 2015.

Low Friendly Maps for the PreMeet!

Because many of you have asked, we took the time to make these maps to the event! We call them the dump maps, aka, for dumped cars. These are the three different scenarios/routes that you would possibly take if you’re coming in from any direction.
**Disclaimer** Although we try our best to route the best way to get there, there are still bumps in the roads. You MUST use common sense and drive slowly through just like you would on any road you’ve never been on with your slammed car!

From I-10 West or I-45 North:

Dump Map I10W

From I-10 East:
This map is for anyone coming in from the East side, aka I-10 East. Take special precaution of the road RIGHT after the railroad tracks near Clinton street. Also- STAY ON THE RIGHT LANE when you take the bridge over the water on Lockwood Drive.

Dump Map I10E

From US 59 South or I-45 South:
This is a map for anyone coming in from the south side, aka, US 59 South, I-45 South. You’ll basically loop around downtown.
If you drive a normal car, ignore this map and just take 59 North and exit Polk St.

Dump Map 45S 59S

We’ll see you guys at 6pm today!

Keep Tuning,

The WekFest USA Official WekFest PreMeet Hosted by Mayday Garage

Last year we hosted WekFest USA’s official pre meet, and it was the largest we had ever managed. Over 1000 cars jam packed in downtown Houston and it was glorious. Dubbed “the best meet I’ve ever been to” by staff at WekFest, we expect this year to be bigger and even better! Join us the night before WFTX on Saturday, 10/18/14 at 6pm at Moon Tower Inn located on 3004 Canal St right outside of Downtown! We will have MANY cars out for this one including a ton of out of state guests. We will have our very own Ricebox food truck there serving the best damn Chinese food in Houston in addition to having Moon Tower’s famous hot dogs and local Texas craft beers! If you missed last years meet, you have a chance to redeem yourself this year and celebrate the WekFest TX weekend with us!! See you there! Spread and share!!
