Quick Vid: MaydayGarage @ FormulaD.

I’m still gathering everyones final photos, and have been editing photos for the past 10 hours straight, but in the meantime, check out this short vid I compiled using the small clips recorded from two of our photographers, Khiem and D_Fan when they weren’t busying clicking off photos.

Note: I made this video in all but 15 minutes, so cut me some slack!
It’s in HD if you big screen guys want to watch it in full screen.

Event Preview: MaydayGarage does Formula Drift @ Irwindale.

As we pack our bags and head back to the Lone Star State, I just wanted to take a few minutes and show you guys a few of our photos before our first part hits the interwebs tomorrow. We promise to try to get the best coverage of any show/event that we go to, and this time we hit up Irwindale with not one, not two photographers, but in full force with SEVEN of our photographers to make sure we didn’t miss a thing.

Nostalgic Wednesday: A Period Correct Tuning Snap.

This week we at the Mayday Garage are a bit busy getting ready for Formula D, working, etc etc. Therefore this week I am going to grace this Nostalgic Wednesday with a Random snap of a Z32 Fairlady that I caught this weekend. After coffee and cars I ventured out to meet our friends at ASAA racing where I was going to pick up some extended studs for my daily ricer and RUCAs for Mayday David. While I was out at ASAA there was a car in the distance sitting in a church parking lot of all places! I backed up, then glanced closer, and thought “sho-nuff” and ran my happy ass with my camera across the street.

If you look closely at this 300z, you will see some classic 90’s body styling going on featuring a Wings West Rear, Veilside side skirts and a Do-Luck front end. Something about this combination made the car flow really well. Maybe because it was black? Maybe it was because I wasn’t hungover on Saturday? Church parking lot in Korea town? Who knows, but for that moment, this car was doing alllll right.

Aggressive look is aggressive

The one thing though that totally sets this whole car off, and is one of my favorite wheels of all time is those Manaray Sport MS-6s. Those rims are so bad ass. 3-piece, 6-bar with a mild lip and rivets and they look helllllllllla good rolling.

And my favorite thing about them, besides the awesome design you ask? Those intense locking centers, nothing short of amazing. Mmm, the 90’s were good for cars.

They need to start putting these centers on rims again, who cars if they were a PITA and always lost.

And what makes this car period correct? It’s simple. All 90s flavor.

Exotic Moment: An Apollo Gumpert

At Cars and Coffee this past weekend the highlight of the event was the arrival of a rare sight, the Apollo Gumpert. For those out there that do not know what the Gumpert is, it is essentially a German manufactured street legal race Super Car. Composed of mainly carbon fiber and fiberglass, this German masterpiece weighs a hair less than 2600 lbs, which is pretty damn light for a car that comes with motor options of ~ 640, 690, and 790hp. Seeing this thing in person was pretty inspiring to say the least, and it sure as hell reminded me of a transformer. Mayday Danh and Mayday Slappy caught some pretty good photos of it on Saturday so enjoy.

I f*ing love serials like this on cars. The font, the exclusivity, the fact that it is on a crazy ass German Supercar reminds me of GUNDAM for some reason. Pew pew

All business. What an ass!

Plenty of Carbon Fiber and Stitching, what you would expect from a 500K ++ car.

They say that the Aero on the Gumpert is so bad ass that it will drive upside down in a tunnel at 190 + mph. That is insane.
