Event Coverage: The Baltimore Grand Prix.

Disclaimer-
Here at Mayday Garage, we’ve recently made a commitment to provide event coverage through our eyes and camera lenses as only we can. With that being said, we are going to try our hand at covering real deal race events in order to broaden your horizons. We’ve been asked multiple times to cover events Mayday style and we’re gonna give it a solid effort to bring you each event through our perspective. Keep in mind, as much as we love all forms of motorsports, we are still a blog, and not a news feed, so don’t expect play-by-play coverage of the events we attend, there are plenty of great sites online you can find that information, we are merely giving our readers an idea of what it’s like to be at one of these events.

Fence? What fence?

I hate airports.
Traffic usually blows to and from airports and Houston is no different. William P. Hobby Airport is my least favorite airport to go to, but it’s pretty close to where I live and since I snagged some pretty cheap tickets online to Baltimore, I couldn’t really complain. Aside from the shady characters, dreary atmosphere and unusual smells, it wasn’t too busy that Saturday evening when I set sail for the great state of Maryland. I’ve never been to Maryland despite being born in Pennsylvania, but from what I gather online, it seemed pretty legit, plus I had a contact waiting for me in Maryland, so I wasn’t S.O.L.

Doc Brown would have to have climbed a bigger ladder.

ponders...

Green with envy!

2002, how I love you.

The Inner Harbor provided an scenic backdrop to the race action

He'll never learn to appreciate the sounds with those on!

Rotary Revival: Jack Coxe’s Pristine Mazda RX-7 FD.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost is pretty well known for it’s take on “The road less traveled”, that is, doing things just a wee bit differently than most. When I asked they guys at Gorilla RE, a local tuning shop near New Orleans that caters to rotaries, if they knew of any cool cars, Jonathan Bruce, owner of Gorilla RE said he knew just the person. About half an hour later, this great white beauty was thrust upon my rotary lovin’ eyes.

Great Caesar's ghost, this FD almost woke the dead.

Seeing a proper 13B-REW always sends a tear down my cheek

Despite the torrential downpour, we rolled up our pants and kept shooting

Nostalgic Psychedelic Wednesdays: 68′ Mazda 110S Brochure

While surfing the waves of the interwebs, I stumbled upon this crazy, out of this world, groovy Mazda Brochure. It was a brochure created by Pop artist Tanadori Yokoo for the 1968 Mazda 110S also known as the Mazda Cosmo Sport. I have never came a cross a Mazda 110S nor have seen so much pictures of it compared to the other Mazdas. The 110S was the first Mazda that was powered by 2 rotor rotary engine. Only a few were produced because they were built by hand resulting 1 car a day. I must say, whoever was the head of advertising (during those times of flower power and peace signs) was trippin’ hard on something.
It was so interesting and awesome reading it that I wanted to share to ya’ll.

Enjoy!
