Bradley Lafayette’s RHD J’s Racing S2000!

We love our Hondas here at Mayday Garage, and it’s no secret that we do in fact love most all RWD cars, so when we first heard of Brad’s all carbon fiber widebody J’s Racing RHD S2000, we knew we would have to see it in person. It was brought to our attention that Bradley wanted to have a set of the now infamous Car Shop GLOW LED S2K tail lights some months ago when we first introduced them to the world, but being a handmade, bespoke Japanese part, we couldn’t get a set of the tails in his hands in time for Import Alliance but last month, we had the pleasure of meeting up with Brad, a friend of Danny Barber, from good ol’ Alabama during our WekFest Pre Meet. We had him up front and center, and his eyegasmic delight of carbon fiber tickled everyone from the insides at Moon Tower Inn. When we finally got a chance to see the car without a million people crowded around it during the actual WekFest TX show, we noticed it really did look weird with the OEM AP2 tails adorning the rear of the very very wild S2000. It was missing something. Something we all knew would complete the exterior of this wild beast, and that something was CSG’s LED tails.

Although we couldn’t get the tails on in time for WFTX, this past weekend, Brad had teamed up with a very talented Ryan Lopez of RL Photography fame, and Ryan was able to take some breathtaking photos to show off Brad’s new derriere. As Ryan himself states, the lights “completely changed the look of the car; they set it off just right. I love the AP2 tails, but the CSG tails just fits the car better”. And we agree.

As we have said time and time again, the lights are a finishing piece. It is “that last touch” that a complete car build needs, and as the case with both Tom and Brad’s S2000’s, it’s the touch that separates them as some of the best from the USA.
Huge thanks to RL Photography, check out his Facebook page and Flickr page!

Success! WFTX Weekend.

As we catch up on some much deserved sleep from the past weekend, we wanted to stop and say thank you to all of those involved to make WekFest TX weekend a runaway success…
We would like to take this time to recognize all the people that helped us get through WekFest TX weekend. Big thanks to all that came to the PreMeet early to help us fill in the spots before things got absolutely batshit crazy with the thousand plus cars that eventually filled the streets in the most epic meet Houston has ever seen.

Special thanks goes out to Rami and all of his Low-Weezy-Ana people including Brian, Wesley, Jonathan, Mikey and Jimmy for bringing out their show winning rides. Thanks to Jay and RC for bringing what would be the WekFest TX Best of Show Integra all the way in from Arizona. That Integra was hands down the nicest build we’ve laid eyes on, holy hell, well deserved! Thanks to Bradley Lafayette and his girlfriend Leisha for driving in the RHD all carbon J’s Racing Honda S2000, our boy Danny wishes he could have been there with you this year! Thanks to all of our special guests, Roy Moncada, Thomas Pinai, Matt Hans, Fredy Gomez, Peck, Tom Syhachack, Tito, Cody Crochett, Kevin Guevara and his team of S2000’s on CCW’s, Kevin Tran, Chan Le, Michael Austin Heath, Henry Do, Jorge and Tony from Potresse, Hajime Maki and Tiny.

Thanks to all the volunteers that did so much work at the actual meet including Kishan Panchal and his friends, Craig Kelly, Brandon Primes, Alejandro Velasquez and everyone else we forgot. That was a HUGE load off of our shoulders and we cannot thank you guys enough. Also thanks to the girls that helped work the merchandise this past weekend including Jessyca Blood, Jessica McCaffrey, Liz Reinhard and Jenny Vo. You gals are great at selling and keeping things organized behind the scenes. Thanks goes out to the guys at Moon Tower-Inn Houston for allowing such a gigantic meet to happen on the streets of Houston and for allowing us to take over the entire venue. Of course none of this is possible without the collaboration of the entire staff at Wekfest USA including Kenneth Li, Ernesto Jr Sarmiento, Geoffrey Nguyen, Wesley Katayama and the rest. You guys have made WFTX weekend a weekend for everyone in Texas and the surrounding areas to look forward to and to force people to step their game up, you have done so much for the car scene, and mad respect for you guys to come out every year. Thank you Steve Lim from Mackin Industries and Hun at ASAA racing for allowing us to share your booth space with us. We are honored that you let us join forces to showcase some of your wheels and brake products, we will HAVE to collaborate again in the future as we use only RAYS/ADVAN/Project Mu products on our own cars. And of course, thanks goes out to the team at Mayday Garage which consists of John Peterson, David Do, Danh Phan, Andrew Machac, Mikey Nguyen, Khiem Pham, John Markadakis, Fabio Pontes and Princeton Wong. Special thanks to Princeton for getting the Hakosuka out on the streets LEGALLY and for stopping everyone dead in their tracks at WekFest.

We strive to keep the Houston car scene alive and we will continue to bring the best of the best out at our shindigs. There is so much more to look forward to, and we won’t stop. Next Stop: Tokyo, Japan.

Low Friendly Maps for the PreMeet!

Because many of you have asked, we took the time to make these maps to the event! We call them the dump maps, aka, for dumped cars. These are the three different scenarios/routes that you would possibly take if you’re coming in from any direction.
**Disclaimer** Although we try our best to route the best way to get there, there are still bumps in the roads. You MUST use common sense and drive slowly through just like you would on any road you’ve never been on with your slammed car!

From I-10 West or I-45 North:

Dump Map I10W

From I-10 East:
This map is for anyone coming in from the East side, aka I-10 East. Take special precaution of the road RIGHT after the railroad tracks near Clinton street. Also- STAY ON THE RIGHT LANE when you take the bridge over the water on Lockwood Drive.

Dump Map I10E

From US 59 South or I-45 South:
This is a map for anyone coming in from the south side, aka, US 59 South, I-45 South. You’ll basically loop around downtown.
If you drive a normal car, ignore this map and just take 59 North and exit Polk St.

We’ll see you guys at 6pm today!

The WekFest USA Official WekFest PreMeet Hosted by Mayday Garage

Last year we hosted WekFest USA’s official pre meet, and it was the largest we had ever managed. Over 1000 cars jam packed in downtown Houston and it was glorious. Dubbed “the best meet I’ve ever been to” by staff at WekFest, we expect this year to be bigger and even better! Join us the night before WFTX on Saturday, 10/18/14 at 6pm at Moon Tower Inn located on 3004 Canal St right outside of Downtown! We will have MANY cars out for this one including a ton of out of state guests. We will have our very own Ricebox food truck there serving the best damn Chinese food in Houston in addition to having Moon Tower’s famous hot dogs and local Texas craft beers! If you missed last years meet, you have a chance to redeem yourself this year and celebrate the WekFest TX weekend with us!! See you there! Spread and share!!

Announcement! CSG x MG S2K LED tails price drop!

We are so proud to announce to everyone that through many negotiations with Honda Co. Japan and through streamlining the LED conversion process, Car Shop GLOW is now able to manufacture the now famous S2000 LED tail lights $150 USD cheaper than we originally sold the lights for! This is GREAT news, and we have passed down the savings to all, including our first customers that have already purchased the lights.

Here are a few photos from one of our first customers, Red Lufty, on his beautiful Honda S2K, photos by Jake Owens.
