Snaps From the 2013 Formula Drift ProAM Lone Star Drift Series, Rd. 1

The Bukake Machine

It’s Midnite and I have to be at work early tomorrow to finish leftover work from yesterday, but I’m still here at a local teahouse writing up this post. I’m surrounded by a couple to my right learning general chemistry, two hot Asian-russian girls behind me playing on their laptops, and to my left is a guy working on some sort of badass graphic design in photoshop. I should probably pack up and head home to sleep, but before I do that, I’m going to post a bunch of random photos from Round 1 of the Lone Star Drift Series held almost 2 weeks ago.

Random Thoughts: Why Would You Want an NSX?!Seriously…

It’s Saturday, It’s TX2k, which means DAMN, that’s a lot of Horsepower around Houston in one weekend. As I was driving home (1:30am), I was thinking of different cars to match up against my desire for the NSX. I came up with; NISMO 370Z, Corvette, Supra, GTR, WRX STI, EVO 9 MR, M3, M5, 911 Turbo, F355, and still chose the NSX. So I was wondering “why do I want an NSX? (specially the 95 T-Top)”.

Designed and first produced in the early 90s, a used NSX sure is overpriced for a late model mid-V6 engine Honda. Finding a used NSX in good condition would probably cost the same as a super-charged American V8, a twin-turbo’d v6 German, an EVO/STI, or even a used Ferrari (355). I can easily purchase a car that has more power than the NSX. Of the barn, the NSX had an output of almost 280hp, who knows what a used NSX would clock in at, a 2014 Civic Si would probably beat it.

One does not simply want an NSX..so what is my justification?! Everyone I talked to who had the same sentiments agreed that it’s design is timeless, you cant complain about its reliability, the weight to power ratio is well balanced, and of course it’s a part of racing history; Senna had one and yeah Gordon Murray found the NSX as an inspiration for his McLaren F1 design! Even with all the valid points said, it wasn’t enough.

With so much thought while driving, as I approached my driveway,my conclusion was quite simple;

I will always want it. and until I get one, I wont find my answer. Go to sleep,  let the “Power of Dreams” kick in yo!

it’s 3:15am, I knew I should have not drank that ice cream coffee w/ tapioca…

Goodnight.

Nostalgic Wednesdays: Ultimate Dream Ferrari

With the release of the recent supercar concepts; Ferrari LaFerrari, Lamborghini Veneno and the McLaren P1, I wondered, if I had money to burn right now… would I buy one? I dont think so. Well, I would not buy the LaFerrari because it looks like a photoshop rendering of every recent Ferrari model, I would not buy the Lambo because i dont want to ride a $4M bull named poison, and I would not purchase the P1 because the McLaren F1 is the only TRUE McLaren (IMO). So what would I get with such demented amount of Benjamins? The 1992 Ferrari F40 LM Competition Berlinetta. Why? because it’s a classic F40 on extacy.

I love the F40 because it was sound, basic, has an awesome twin-turbo engine, and straight to the point aerodynamics concentrating mainly on downforce and stability. There was no ABS, no traction control, no electro-hydraulic paddle shifting, and no stability control which made the car primitively basic, which I love. The F40 was originally built to commemorate the company’s 40 years celebration. But then, it was “drafted” out of the stable to battle in the Italian Super GT for 2 consecutive years; and it took home the bacon on its second year.

So if I had pockets that run deep, instead of buying the recently released supercars, I’d stay classic, and would hunt down an F40 LM; it will always be my all time weapon of choice Italian. Now if you ask what Japanese?…that’s a different NosWednesday topic.
