This past weekend we were out at Powerfab Automotive for the dial-in session for the Texas drift cars for the 2011 season. Being from Texas we are pretty much familiar with most of the cars that rolled out and some even changed their faces for the 2011 season, one person inparticular was Robert Turnbow and his MX73 Toyota Cressida. When Robert rolled to the event with candy red literally dripping off his frame, we looked, and then smiled. Usually you catch people on the course with the latter generation 83 like our ol’ buddy Ameen but Robert decided to keep it old school with his x7…

Death, by Sedan
Note the Serial Nine vinyl that Robert rocks. Serial Nine is one of the ONLY accessible companies out there that produce high quality aftermarket parts for this Beast, especially for the track. Gerard over at Serial Nine does not mess around when it comes to quality suspension parts. Hopefully he can swing a body kit for the 73 like his courrent 83 Cressida.

Cereal
Hailing from southern Texas, Robert does most of the work himself which is always a plus in our book. From his motor to the zipties that hold 50 or so percent of the car together its from the home garage.

There is no doubt this screams 80s

What Speedometer?

Rainbow tied, no homo
Roberts drift damage can be viturally omitted by his Euroline SLs. It never gets old seeing what a good set of shoes can do to a car.

Sittin' Pretty

Divine.

Boss Hoss
And that cage PLUS gussets, serious BUSINESS!

All did up

Umph!
At the dial in for the drifters, Robert squeezed out a heafty 401whp which is no number to laugh at when you are getting your ass passed by a 25 year old grocery getter.

Get Ready

Go!

Home Built.

2.5 Liters of Goodness
Hopefully this year we get to see Robert and his Candy 73 in some serious action for the up and coming Texas Drift Series, because it is always nice to see something out of the norm.
