Coffee and Cars, our monthly exotic fix of high end cars and enticement, occurred this past Saturday and was special in a couple of ways. First, it was the new venue that the event was being held at, Vintage Park, right outside of the north side of Houston. A large welcoming venue, with café’s and restaurants to entertain the crowd, seemed to be THE new home for the event. After a little bit of trouble finding a permanent spot, Jorge and Bill, the organizers of Houston’s Coffee and Cars chapter, hit a homerun on this one.
Dreary skies, light rain and 200% humidity were the welcoming factors for Saturday, definitely not turbo weather, I haven’t broken a sweat like that since before the winter started.
But Mother Nature’s forces didn’t keep the fans from coming out. There were EASILY 600 plus cars that came out which is a testament to the hunger that Houstonians have for great rides.
And to the second unique aspect to this Coffee and Cars, our very own Andrew Machac proposed to his lady Ashley in a ricer fashion at the event. Getting together with organizer Jorge, Andrew masterminded a method to bring the masses together as he bent down on one knee. Now, if proposing to your girl at a car event isn’t hardcore then I don’t know what is. But we are okay with this because his new fiancée Ashley is cool enough to let Andrew continue to build cars. And that, gentlemen, is a tough thing to find. Good catch Andrew!
So, after the engagement we started to browse the new home to Coffee and Cars, Vintage Park. The first thing I noticed when I arrived to the venue was the eye pleasing aesthetics to compliment the high-end cars. I mean let’s face it, with cars that value up to the millions, the last thing you want is to host your event a place that makes your stomach turn at the first sight. Vintage Park was on point, and we look forward to more events there.
Of course, having an event on the outskirts of Houston did have a couple of people complaining about the drive, but as an old school enthusiast put it, “We have nice cars, so why the hell don’t we drive them a bit?” He couldn’t have been more right.
So, for next time we know things will be even crazier at Coffee and Cars because weather will be better, people will be accustomed to the new location, and enthusiasts will be game for driving, do I hear cruise coverage?
Oh yeah, and being that there is a Starbucks at the new venue, you will no longer be seeing any more Mayday Coffee bar out at Coffee and Cars, but that is ok. Mayday Coffee Bar will return one day! You’ve won this round Starbucks.
The baddest Mamma Jamma all day
Until next month..
