This past Sunday MaydayGarage was out kicking it with our local Texas drifters for the Non Stop Tuning 5 year anniversary drift event. Mike, owner and founder of N.S.T. and local drift icon Aaron Losey from Fabricated Motorsports put on the drift competition and car show. 40 degrees and a slight wind chill was the welcoming weather for a pretty chilly exhibition of drift as we all literally froze our butts off. But hot as hell or cold as hell, we always find ourselves weathering it out to get our sideways fix.
The event consisted of two categories that we will be releasing coverage of over the next couple of days. The drift portion, that was a judged competition for some cash and the second, a quaint car show of enthusiasts with a love for drift.
The event started off with a brief expo like usual where the 28 registered drivers would put it on for the audience.
Plenty of folks came out to “support their local drifters.”
Crowds look upon Stew’s super slick LS1 swapped S13, the car is well executed.
Following the expo, was the qualifiers where the top 12 of the lot would be judged by none other that Texas drifter OG Derrick Rodgers of Bubba Drift fame.
Then, to the final four, where Chelsea DeNofa, Stweart Leask, Ameen Rizvi, and Victor Sun would battle it out for the N.S.T. cash pot.
When all was said and done, Chelsea DeNofa took first with a tight battle over Stewart Leask.
Followed by Ameen Rizvi for third place after his three time do over with Victor Sun, I seriously thought Ameen’s tires were going to blow on him there at the end. It was pretty intense.
Here is Aaron Losey from Fabricated motorsports rounding the troops to announce the winners. Aaron is a well respected figure in the Texas drift scene and has been around a stint.
Time for the payout as Mike from N.S.T. writes the winners checks, don’t cry Mike. 😀
The drivers seemed to be pretty stoked to about their wins too. A big turnout of people cheering them on always helps!
No need for champagne here as we like to get to the point, beer please!
This is just a preview of what this event had to offer, stay tuned for in depth coverage here on MaydayGarage from David!
