the corner king

During the long weekend, I decided to stay home, went to run some errands and for some alone time,I installed lowering springs on the wagon. I spent down time watching reruns of Top Gear and they featured the Italian company Lancia. Clarkson and Hammond described Lancia as a ‘rust bucket’ bulder. Lancia did have a bad rep for it’s quality and reliability but they built one car that tickled my fancy; the Delta Integrale.

Mitsubishi and Subaru for lunch, Celica GT4 for desert.

Debuted in 87, Lancia packed the Delta Integrale with a 210 horsepower turbo charged engine preparing the car for Group Racing. The car was created to conquer the sport, which it did six consecutive times! With six consecutive World Rally titles under its belt, it still holds the record today.

The Delta Integrale had 3 distinct Special Editions;

Club Italia – The rarest of all special editions, the Club Italia was made with a limited run of just fifteen cars for members of the Club Italia. These cars are easily identified by the Club Italia script was written on both the front of the car and the rear wing.

Martini 5 & 6 – Honoring the long standing relationship between Martini Racing and Lancia, 400 Evolution I cars were painted with Martini Racing stripes on the side of the car. 310 more Martini ‘6’ cars were made in celebration of the sixth consecutive World Rally title achieved with the Delta.

Final Edition -(“EDIZIONE FINALE”) The last 250 Evolution II cars were painted Candy Red with a red blue and yellow strip down the center. The interior featured Tan Alcantara leather with cloth centers.

crowd favorite

Nearly half of the 10,000 built were shipped abroad and obviously Japan had a lot of em. LOL

TE37, i put that shit on anythaaaang.

a predator in its natural habitat

Production ended in November 1994; not because the cars were ONLY created in a left hand drive spec, but because it was time to end its legacy on a good note.  I would still consider this car one of ‘the’ hot hatches of it’s time.

sori, LHD onry.

Even though Lancia had a bad rep as an Italian company (as one who built rust buckets with Ferrari engines), something good did come out of their production plant. Lancia made the Integrale one of the most successful rally cars ever – an extra ordinary car of our time that definitely deserves a spot in every car enthusiast’s top 10 list.

oh it's a 4 door hatch? lol
