YUPPPP! Today’s Nostalgic Wednesday is about the beloved Volk TE37s. What is so nostalgic about these wheels?
The funny part is, No one really knows when they were created**. My earliest memory of the wheel was way back in the mid 90’s, when my cousin bought a brand new 15 inch set in white. I was so amazed how light they were and how we jokingly carried each wheel on each hand with ease. Each one of us probably owned a couple of sets, dream of owning one or never liked them. what was your earliest memory of these wheels?
What made the TE37 so favorable to both racing chaps and street tuners? It would probably be the variety of sizes available.Volk TE-37 sizes range from 13 x 5.0″ to 20 x 11″, with also a variety width and offsets, the six spoke wheel made it on almost all enthusiast’s cars and trucks.
The TE37 was originally created for racing purposes. With racing in its DNA, Rays Engineering designed the wheel to be well balanced, light-weight as well as being solid enough to withstand abuse on the track. The TE-37 wheel features a forged, one piece monoblock construction.
According to Rays Engineering, the Forging process is extremely superior compared to the casting process due to the immense pressures involved. In the Forging process, the pressure eliminates the “small pockets” and makes the wheel lighter and more durable.
The TE37s were designed by Mr. Kishi Nokami. Little is known about Mr. Nokami, but we definitely owe him a big thanks for blessing us with the TE37.
The Volk TE-37 enjoys its pop status on both the street, track, ice and dirt, and is a highly sought after set of wheels.
Unknown of its beginning times, It’s been on the market for some time, it shows no sign of aging or losing its iconic status as the one of the most significant street/race wheel ever made.
