When we Associate certain cars and the engines that made them famous, we come up with a list;

Toyota Corolla and the 4A-GE

Honda Integra Type-R and the B18C

Nissan Skyline GTR and the RB26DETT

GM Corvette and the LS1

Mazda RX7 FD and the 13B

Subaru STI and the H4 boxer.

and of course, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the 4G63.

But this harmonious relationship between the Evolution and the 4G63 wasn’t love at first sight.  In 1980-83, the Lancer EX 2000 was equipped with a 2.0 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.It was the first Lancer to use the very first 4G63.

serious moustache is serious bitnit.

Not familiar with this chasis? Like the Nissan Skyline, it was never shipped to the US market.  The Lancer EX was sold throughout Europe, South Americas, and mostly Asia Pacific (Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, China, and Australia).

Famous in the Philippines, they are dubbed as the "Box Type", i wonder why...

Equipped with advanced electronics or ECI, controlled fuel injection gave the Lancer more power and exceptional fuel economy. It registered 23.0 mpg in city driving and 28.8mpg on 37mph in highway driving WOW! LOL

back then, before i met your mom...

Little is known about this Lancer but its contribution paved the way for today’s generation of Evolutions.

If this chasis came to the US,as well as the early generation Evolutions, do you think it would have changed the course of the import street scene?
