Last NosWeds, we had the Honda City Turbo ii and I posted a picture of the City’s trunk with a compact bike in it. While most knew what it was, there were a couple who have been asking what it was and more info about it; so here it is, the Honda Motocompo (Trunk Bike) scooter.

This compact bike may seemed modern side by side with the Ruckus but Honda Japan produced the Motocompo from 1981-83; it was indeed ahead of it’s time. It was marketed as a scooter that would fit the Honda City’s trunk perfectly.

The Motocompo had its handle bars, kick-start pedal and seat folded into the frame for storage and retract it when in bike mode; It’s almost like a Transformer toy for adults. The Motocompo was powered by an air-cooled 49cc 2-stroke motor with 2.5 horsepower @5000 RPM. It had a single speed automatic transmission and a kick-start ignition.

At only 53,300 Units produced, this rare oddity was only sold in Japan and most of them were exported as collectibles. Even the Honda City was a huge success for Honda Japan, the consumers didn’t really click with the compact bike in the compact trunk of a  compact car.

Rumor has it that Honda is planning on reproducing a newer version of the motocompo and pictures were leaked all over the webz. I would rather pick the classic motocompo compared to the rendered new design for it, which explains the reason why  I didn’t bother posting a picture of it.

Now the questions is, was the City designed to specifically fit the Motocompo? or the mini-bike was designed to fit the City? I say the Fit, needs a Motocompo.
