To Celebrate Back to the Future’s 25th anniversary, we are going to bring this weeks Nostalgic attention to the legendary time traveling DeLorean built by Doctor Brown in 1985. First featured in the original Back to the Future, both Doctor Brown and protege Marty McFly drove this stainless steel beast to the past, future, and back.

The Original
Powered by a small block v8 and capable of 0-60 times of 10.5 seconds, the Delorean DMC 12 was not the fastest car on the face of the planet. However, Doc Brown had some improvements for his beast. You see, the Doc wanted to time travel in style, and that is why he chose the DCM-12 to be the body of his time traveling masterpiece. With the addition of his patented Flux Capacitor he really had no need for more power, this was due to the time traveling reaction that happened 88mph.

Serious Business

The after effect
Coupled with the Flux Capacitor was a Plutonium drive that helped generate the 1.21 Jiggawatts of energy needed to propel the machine through time. Down the road however Doc Brown upgraded his plutonium drive to a recycle drive. (The guy was green WAY ahead of the curve)

The Heart

Nuclear Reactions from Beer, now that is recycling!
Another quality about the Delorean was that it shared a similar suspension setup as the old Lotus Esprit with a four-wheel independent suspension. Protege Marty McFLy clearly showed the DMCs handling abilities when running from Libyan terrorists in the Pine Valley Mall parking lot. With a few drifts and sprints he easily hit 88mph to avoid disaster with the terrorists.

These guys WILL come after you if you attempt to pass off pinball machine parts as a nuclear bomb FYI.

88mph no problem!
Also note the reactor coolers on the rear of the car, a must for preventing a meltdown.

Bitnit.
When traveling back to the future Doctor Brown had converted the 80’s style axel and wheel system to a complete 21st century hover setup. Amazing what you can accomplish when you are a tuner at heart. I am not sure what numbers he put down to the air when the Delorean was in hover mode, but I assume it was quite a bit.

Some trust here.

"Where we're going you don't need, roads"
25 years later and the DeLorean DMC-12 created by Doc Brown is still wayyyyyyy ahead of its time.

One day.
We of course would supplement those 1.21 jiggawatts for 1.21 jizzawatts….just sayin..
