Before the glitz, glamour and hot women in bikinis that Professional drifting provides, at it’s core, drifting is an underground, grassroots type of automotive sport. These underground drift sessions take place mainly at night, in secluded areas typically around industrial parks. Alex Berrios, local drifter and 786Motoring groupie, will be taking his shot at Import Reactor Drift 2010, and by the looks of it, he has a damned good chance with his signature Balls-to-the-wall style.

Name: Alex Berrios
Height: 6 ft
Weight: 215 lbs.
Bloodtype: H for Hustler

Alex was first introduced to drifting the same way many of us did: watching drift videos. Seemed exciting, so he tried his hand at it roughly 5 or 6 years ago at local drift events hosted by DailyDrifter. But somehow, I don’t think this was enough for Alex and his 240. He then took it to the streets.

On the streets, Alex perfected his “Balls-to-the-wall” style by doing tandem runs with other local drifters. Alex’s drift style combination of no fear, high speed, all out, who-gives-a-fuck attitude will give the high dollar, stickered up pro drivers a real run for their money. His 240 has seen much battle, and up until a few days ago, it showed.

His engine of choice is the venerable KA24DE, which is the motor Nissan decided to put into the USDM 240sx’s. His reasoning is that it’s plentiful, cheap, and makes great power with less hassle for finding parts for it. Of course, Alex wasn’t exactly okay with it in stock trim. He has turbocharged the KA motor as most 240 owners often do. He’s been through multiple engines not because they’re bad, but because it’s hard for the motors to keep up with Alex’s pedal-to-the-metal style.

When asked how he felt about competing in Import Reactor Drift, Alex responded with “HELL YES I’M EXCITED!” He will be representing the “little guy”, the man that builds his car with his own money without anyone’s help. You won’t see his 240sx completely vinyl’d up like his competitors save for a few stickers from 786Motoring. He will represent the street drifting style that so many of us have come to love by watching countless Option videos.

Alex Berrios will be competing side-by-side with his long time friend and ally, Ameen Rizvi. If the color of the car looks familiar, it’s because it’s the same color as the 786 Motoring Drift Cressida. Together, the two hope to take home the gold, fame, and more importantly, the “hot bitches”.
