If you have been keeping up with our blog, then you already know about this year’s Mayday Capital Run, the eccentric caravan that involves making a trek to the State’s capital in style. This year’s destination? The 512 Project in Austin, TX.

JohnP insists on showing everyone his shadow puppets

This year was a bit different in that it wasn’t just a huge caravan leaving from Houston to Austin, there were actually TWO different legs this time, with another leg leaving from Dallas. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend this particular leg, so I couldn’t tell you exactly how it felt, but if it was anything like the Houston leg, i’m sure it was a blast.

I had met up JohnP, Lawrence and Mikey at my house since it was the closest point to our meet up spot, and with 3 hours of sleep under my belt, it was time to meet up in Katy, TX. I rode with Lawrence in his LS430 and we followed Mikey and JohnP in Mikey’s 240sx to Sam’s Club where there were already people waiting a full hour before we were scheduled to take off to Austin. Hardcore. Some people didn’t even sleep.

These guys were already here well over an hour before we had to leave

The break of dawn

While we were there, I decided to pick up breakfast from Chick-Fil-A while it was still early, I figured nobody would show up for at least half an hour. When we came back, to my surprise was a host of cars. And not your typical cars you’d expect either. There were Hondas/Acuras, Mitsu’s, Nissans/Infiniti’s, Mazdas and Toyotas to round out the bunch, each one a little unique.

This EVO was hellaslammed just for our run. So much it was rubbing tires on the way to the meet up point

Those tires weren't cheap either, Advan A048's are some of my most favorite tires

The RWD boys

Z31's? Cool.

Even this intensely green M3 showed up to party too

Chick-Fil-A: Best Fast Food Breakfast EVER

As we ate our breakfast, some of the guys were doing some last minute polishing, taping and even adjusting suspension setups. More cars kept showing up, and it wasn’t long before we had a full fledged fleet of imports. Team NextStage, Opulence and even the 786Motoring guys all came in packs.

Mikey shining up his wheels before he shines up my shoes.

This flushed out 4 door civic Si was rolling on some pretty nice BBS wheels

There were a fair amount of Hondas as well

Ameen, Danny and Gary of 786 Motoring all brought out their respective rides

This super slammed SC on 20's didn't give a fuck about driving long distances

This IS-F rolled in on some ginormous brakes and wheels

There's enough bling to make Johnny the Jeweler turn around and kick rocks

So as 7:30 approached, JohnP gathered the crowds and explained how the run was gonna go, and warned people that there would be no mooning. Unfortunately, he broke his own rule, but I wasn’t there to catch it.

JohnP shows the crowd his magic tricks. Nobody laughs.

And we’re off!

JohnP right before he mooned me

We wanted to say thanks for everyone involved that wanted to roll out in the largest caravan Texas has ever seen! It’s because of you that we can do these runs and still have fun!

Next stop: Austin, TX!
