Event Coverage: The Most Epic Post Ever – MaydayGarage Does Wek’Fest TX.

  • October 20, 2011
  • maydaygarage
Something we like to pride ourselves here at MaydayGarage is to bring our readers the best possible coverage of any event we attend. We’ve heard it from many of you that you guys truly love our coverage because not only are the pictures worth saving, but that we tend to bring a more human element to our photos, that is, we like to take photos of what’s actually going on at an event, not just the cars themselves. So my personal goal to you guys is to make this coverage of Wek’Fest’s first ever show here in Texas the best you’ll find on the internet, period. So let’s get going…
It's going down in downtown
Right this way
Gotta make sure she looks purty!
Those Refined Elegance boys showing off the Vertex Ridge kitted SC
Thomas Pinai's dual entries into Wek'Fest
Early morning roll in/wood.
Our Texans cheerleader helping us sell some product!
That's a damn line
YESSSSSS
Geeeeeeez!
Sell sell sell!
Kai demands moar low
Cheesin'
I guess everyone's a photographer now
Our own Danny Barber didn't even know he won Best Nissan.
Line em up!
Wow, the headlights are so nice! Usually they get all yellowed out on SC's.
During roll-in, I spotted this pretty cool red bike on top of an even cooler xB.
Paul from Baker Tuning tanning the top of his head as he rolls in.
Colter Morgan stepping out of his widebody S14 on Rotiforms.
Didn't matter what you drove. If you had style, you were welcomed at Wek'Fest
Time to floss that ride!
Although I was too late to capture it, this civic had some sweet F&F graphics made from painters tape
There's a fine line between Race and Rice. We think this was more on the Race side
We spotted this turbocharged, k series powered RHD Integra with bronze TE's.
Of course John was tickled by it.
NASIOC's first "Top Scoob". More on this car in a future post. Keep your eyes peeled!
This poor guy was bending his fender back to normal. Chalk that up to the game
Ouch.
Cleanin' that bay
Wax on, wax off
Layin' down the WFTX stickers
Jonathan from Swang-n-Bang had an interesting story. Turns out his hood flew open and smashed the shit out of his car
There were some side effects.
John offered to help flatten out the hood
Well at least Jonathan was in good spirits
———————————
Aw the line doesn't look THAT bad.
wait.
Ok nevermind.
And then they started to trickle in....
So much variety!
A really nice blue suby caught all of our attention
Yeah I know, we're obsessed with TE37's. Guilty.
Haaaaayyyyyyyyyy
One of our most favorite cars at the show was Thomas Pinai's stunning GS
Show AND go. We love it.
It looked great from all angles.
The green accents were a really nice touch.
So crazy it looked almost cartoony
Everyone wanted a piece of the Best of Show winner
Wasn't kidding.
Smile!
Friends!
Thomas' other car he brought to the show. Talk about variety
Serious pipes!
Well at least his cars have one common theme. LOW.
swag
Pick a color, any color!
Gotta love the Project Mu's all around
Matt from America's Best Stance Crew
Judging time!
What? It's not even a basketball!
That asian persuasion.
An AE86 with a twist
Sweet! An S13 SR motor
Bizniz
A bit messy, but I dig the handbrake(s)
A sea of shirts for sale
Everyone loves the camera
Most of the time.
Even Team MaydayGarage was selling shirts!
Our limited run shirts were on sale for $20! Now online as well!
John's girlfriend, Ornella, sporting our shirt, and helping us sell em
Our first customers before we even opened!
How could you say no?
Hey look! Our first limited edition sticker! Those are hard to come by
The Louisiana crew was reppin hard like Easton's IS from CZ Wheels
Gettin' down and dirty on this Kouki S14
They're so bright and yellow!
There were quite a handful of VIP minded rides.
Chocolatey!
Or is it caramel?
Futura Brakes were in the house with their assortment of BBK's aimed at the VIP crowd
Damn, do I look like this when I take photos? I need more stance
Futura's demo car was probably my favorite LS there.
Yeah. That's pretty much perfect.
What really got me were the small teal accents. Check out these headlights!
The side sills were definitely a nice touch.
Posing with the models
Amy Markham posing for Danh
Hey! A Texans fan! I'm sure he got a kick out of this
The Hondas had a strong presence at Wek'Fest as well starting with this FIT
It was definitely up to par
Love the color scheme on this Civic
Throwback!
Approved.
Hmmmm another purple Civic
And another??
Speaking of purple, this Vinyl wrapped GS was a headturner
Or is it green?
Dem Brakes
What's everyone staring at?
Well that makes sense.
In AWE
Your turn to gawk
Why do Import Shows always have Break Dancing?
Cause they're both awesome.
We have a winner.
Everything is low at Wek'Fest
Uhhhh are those dual exhaust pipes??
Dennis' red hot NSX (bonnet was popped for the fire marshall)
poppin' hoods
We really liked this Genesis Coupe
Gold Brembos
The Refined Elegance Soarer
Chrome on chrome action
This pretty much sums it up
Danh on sniper patrol
An extremely clean EF four door
I'm guessing the guy hates crips?
This first gen DSM was definitely more on the GO side of things.
Not a security camera
Chowtime!
Damn!
Steve trying to spill cheese in his Supra
JohnP trying not to spill anything cause he hates wasting food
Z on TE's
Son's G fresh from our Lonestar Run
Slammed Suby
Red car, yellow valve cover. Yellow car, red valve cover.
We really don't care for this gen Sentra, but it was really nice
Even the devil would approve.
Close up
This green IS was different in that it was rocking polished Advans
This EG civic was murdered out
Gold rivets: Classy
For many, a mid day nap was in order after a long night of cleaning their cars
Some people didn't even care where they slept
But most just slept in their own cars
And some just didn't care when or where
This car seems familiar
Of course Mike was showing with his boys from Opulence, including Dennis' RX-8
O face.
Lakers fan?
Ziptie whiskers?
Don't you hate when people take pictures of other people taking pictures?
Justin and Matt
You don't need a DSLR to take good photos
The Fabulous Baker Tuning Boys (and girl)
Prelude to a stance
Oooooh
Tupac agrees
Wide O Body
Probably the first time i've seen a 240sx on Rotiforms
You KNOW this guy went back to In-N-Out
A classy S2000
RC car drifting, complete with wrestlers.
It's harder to capture than it looks
Game faces.
These wrestlers are pretty good
This kid did NOT want us touching his pride and joy
Some very unique artwork
Yikes. These fenders have seen better days.
A very tasteful EG hatch
This poor car has been through so much
Edafe from DPE wheels showed us their latest lineup in fat lips.
Mark and Edafe talking about why he's so swole
Holy cow those lips are huge!
Brent's crazy JGTC inspired NSX was being showcased by DPE too, check out his face
Insert fat lip joke here
I want to snuggle up in these
Have a great time!
After many moons, we finally got a chance to catch up with Ben Terry from StanceWorks
No handshakes here. All hugs.
Ben was excited to show us The Lowly Gentlemen's newest driving gloves
I'm not bullshitting when I say that these are the softest, most badass gloves i've ever worn
Look at how easy the fingers bend
I don't think they had any problems selling anything
Badass Camera straps for shutter nerds like us
The tagline says it all
There were no shortage of Euros after all.
Mean army green
The owner took the Army theme to another level, check out the battery box!
We saw a lot of old faces here, including Tot from Louisiana!
Many recognized the car from our video of it doing a nasty burnout
Although I don't remember this guy being there.
Grant's slammed G8
And here he is showing his support for us!
Nicest CRX at Wek'Fest belongs to Stevie Phamo
Fastest CRX? Let me think about it
Fast is contagious
Although it's not always about being the fastest.
Or even about cars...
It's all about trying harder
John and I loved this S2000
The old school Racing Hart Type C's were so money
We obviously weren't the only ones to think that
Dex breaking a sweat working hard
Friends.... How many of us have them?
Baker Tuning made their presence known by showing a plethora of Nissans and Hondas
Oh you know that wasn't cheap.
Bumblebee in a past life.
Lounging around on a Saturday afternoon
I would imagine doing tricks would be extremely difficult
One of my absolute favorite cars there was this Del Sol
IMMACULATE.
I also really liked his buddy's Civic for a few reasons.
There's one reason right there
Different.
There were a number of fast Hondas in attendance, surprisingly.
This Integra was pushing over 700 whp!
y so srs?
Another fast honda
John really liked this RHD ITR on white M7's
So much so, he got his contact info
A pretty cool track inspired EG
Twins
Another fast Integra, these things are everywhere!
Cue the JAWS music
The little green machine
Hulk would be smitten
Not all the Hondas were fast
You can already see a little kid asking his mom what this means
16Niss in the house
Now this was an interesting display
Dat diffused ass
Dat intercooled face
Ess Four Clean
This IS300 was no slouch
It's like a chalkboard!
This Toyota truck was so badass, it won car of the festival
That's what I'm talking about
Apparently, his wheel fell off on the way to Wek'Fest. Damn!
Two of our Mayday cars, Tony's SC and Danny's S15
So when I saw Magic The Gathering cards in Danny's S15, I told him to just put in on his dash for fun
And then when I realized that both Danh and Mikey brought their decks, I told them they should just play on the S15 hood
They took it literal
Probably the best contraceptive out there
NERDSSSS!!
Danny ended up getting the last laugh when he won Best Nissan! WTF!
I should invest in a deck
Must be contagious because Dennis won too!
Danny meeting Mark from Fatlace. Remember this picture, because it will be badass later.
We win
Hope you enjoyed the coverage! –David– David@maydaygarage.com
