3rd Generation Corolla E30

E30? to euro chaps it’s a BMW 3 series, to jap junkies, it’s a Toyota corolla. The Corolla E30 was the third generation of Corollas that was build from 1974 to 81. This generation of corollas were released not only in Japan but also to the North American market.

fastback style was a popular design back then.

The Corolla was built to compete with Datsun and the sporty bluebird 510, 240Z, Honda cvcc and  rotary Mazda RX7s. It was during the crucial time when american muscle was pushing for more horses, Japanese compacts tried to win Americans through fuel economy and still perform.

sticker bombing old school style.

The e30 was not only an underestimated competitor but also had different body styles and trims to suit each buyers preference.

Even it was criticized as being over priced more than its competitors back then,  they are well known for it’s build quality.

Judge Gray’s Corolla currently has 1,010,000 miles on it... wait.. A MILLION?

So I just watched the new Transformers movie and they featured a Datsun 510 not as an autobot but just a “beater” well it’s not a beater but a “collector’s item” according to Sam while Bumblebee was out doing recon work for the government; to normal non car-fan people, yea it is a piece of shit, old rusted car; but to us who are passionate about cars, we see how Sam sees it, it’s a collector’s item or something that has value some day. I’d feel the same way if ever is saw a  Corolla E30 on the road today. For a normal person, it’s an old econo japanese car, but looking beyond the rust and torn seats, it’s simple, valuable  and has lots of potential as a project car to restore and display or modify and track someday.

a rendered e30 rolla how bout that.
