It’s Monday and I am kicking it here at the office in awe of the weekend that just passed. It has been a while since I have been so hype about an event that has taken place in Texas. Granted, car shows do have their place when they pass through but when it boils down to it, the reality is that we have been experiencing the same format of shows over the past fifteen years, and well, they are getting pretty boring. Stance of the Union was a very focused event that encompassed the style of offset focused tuning. The event was a success in my opinion, especially for their first go around. Big props to Stance of the Union’s organizers for making this an awesome event.

At the end of the event Ben Terry (sp?), Stance of the Union’s prime organizer, said, “HIN is DEAD, it is now the Hot Rod Era of the imports”. Though this statement might be in slight extremity, he does have a valid point, especially when you look to a tuning aspect such as Stance/Offset/Flush, Drift, Time Attack and Drag achievements. When was the last time you went to a “car show” and was actually hyped about the “show”? Really, all the shows are about nowadays are catching up with old friends, getting drunk, and bitching about shitty judging. As of late, the best events from West Coast to East Coast have been theme/action based events that are focused. Hence the slew of events that occurred this weekend, Stance of the Union, NOS Energy Meet, and the Lonestar Bash, here in Texas, and not to mention Formula D, at Irwindale, California. What do all of these have in common? They all provide the audience and participants with solid entertainment VALUE, key word being value. I still believe that H.I.N. has its place, but under their new ownership they are going to have to make some serious adjustments to evolve with the community around them, it is very possible…../rant.

Anyway, the weekend was badass! First Stance, then NOS Energy Meet, and last but not least..The Lonestar Bash.
