Drift with a dash of Class: Justin Rogers’ Kouki 240sx

It’s not easy building a car that not only turns heads, but also can take a beating at the local drift events. It’s not easy building a drift car that not only has matching body panels, but can also get you around town without waking up the neighborhood with a super loud exhaust. And it definitely is not easy building a car that can stand out in a city that’s 5.7 million people deep. If you’ve been to any recent drift event here in Houston, TX, you’d be hard pressed to not notice Justin Rogers’ vibrant red 1997 240sx sliding through the cones.

You may remember this clean car from our past coverage of the September 13th drift event. After the tire smoke subsided, and the dust settled, we asked Justin if we could shoot his car for the Mayday blog. I was pleased to see that Justin was grateful enough to allow us to feature his car. As Khiem Pham shot the car, it was funny to see some of the reactions from the passing onlookers.
Dont let the red ass fool you, thats not a baboon.

I overheard some people say, “what kind of sports car is that?”, to which I replied, “It’s a nissan”. The gawking continued. Can you blame them? The car screams “Here I am”, and with the turbocharged SR20DET idling at a red light, it definitely looked the part of a sports car.

Justin has spared no expense when it comes to parts, as his parts were carefully selected to complement each other. This is evident by just staring at the exterior of the S14. The car is adorned with a D-Max Type 1 aero kit, vented hood, corner and bumper lights. The vertex headlights house the HID lights which spill onto the cobblestone road in Downtown.

When asked what the purpose of his car is, his reply was: “Had my s14 for a litle over 2 years, had a 93 hatch before since 2003 My purpose of the car is to build a really cool street style car and of course a solid drift machine, i wanted to make a car that is personal to me anyone can get use a ton of money to build some race car but i wanted to capture the essence of what drifting means to me and the whole style of it that inspired me when i first started watching option vids back in the day, a complete car that i put all my dedication and time into basically because i love to do so. Future plans are to kinda up in the air right now but can expect a a few changes for this next year including color and more power :0 ”
The End.

And congrats to Justin for making it onto the HellaFlush blog! So what do you think? –David– Photo credits: Khiem Pham khiem125@gmail.com All shot with Canon 5D Mk 2
