Car Shop GLOW FD LED Taillight Progress Report.

Okay so many of you have blown up our inbox lately asking about the taillights that we had made from Car Shop GLOW for the FD3S RX-7. Yes, we are in the final stage right before shipping. The custom CSG metal badges are now made and riveted on each taillight for authenticity and we are only waiting for the final smoke/tint job on the taillights. We should have some in our possession in about 1.5 – 2 weeks. We will (excitedly) install them, test them, make sure there are no condensation leaks, and photograph and record video so you yourself can judge them. Here are some photos of the progress!

Yes, CSG works on many cars. Typically high end European cars.

The Crowd Pleaser. Sometimes.

We know you’ve all seen Khiem’s FD RX-7 a billion times on the internet, but for whatever reason, most people have never “really” seen it aside from some small local car meets. Lately, it’s been on stage at last month’s Cars & Coffee and even more recently, TX2K14, where this type of car belongs.

When the hood goes up, everyone crowds around within seconds at Cars & Coffee

Sitting pretty with the three rotary powered FD's at TX2K14

Most people think FD's don't make an insane amount of power, especially at TX2K

Until that hood goes up

I believe "dick magnet" is the correct term as Linhbergh and Khiem demonstrates

Man/dick power

Houston Rice by 1013mm.

When I had asked Danh where to take John Zhang and Patrick Lauder to shoot Rob Amason’s E28 and Tom’s S2000, he told me the Sabine St. Bridge. My first thought was “oh hell no”, mainly because everyone and their mom has shot cars on this bridge, us included. However, the more I thought about it, the more I agreed with Danh. As I’ve stated before, a great photographer has his own personalized style, and know both of these guys, I knew they would do something a little more than what others have tried in the past. Actually, when people knew we were taking the guys there to get shot, some people said the bridge had been done to death, and that it would look like everyone else’s photos.

That said, I want to share with you what John Zhang, aka 1013mm, did with the RX-7. He asked that the FD be moved into the shot so he could make sure that it was right before he shot Rob’s E28. After the shoot, we all headed to Blacksmith for some coffee. Technically, John banged out 3 giant iced lattes and was super wired. So wired, he managed to edit and upload this image in a matter of minutes.

Rice and shine. Click on this photo for a larger version!

Never doubt a great photographer.

Bonus shot!

Latte number 3! Tom is in shock

The Rice is back. Quickworks Photo.

A good photographer makes great images. A great photographer has his/her own distinct style which is easily recognizable, and Patrick Lauder of Quickworks Photo definitely has his own style as many have already seen in print magazines such as Import Tuner, Super Street and Honda Tuning. We flew Patrick down to Houston to come hang out with us, and the guy is a working monster! Patrick took the bulk of the cars scheduled for photoshoots and managed to even squeeze in a photo of one of the Mayday Garage FD RX-7’s in between shoots. Over the next few days, you’ll be able to see the behind the scenes look at how this guy goes from Super Street Fighter 4 aficionado at night to full on protographer beast mode during the day. Till then, enjoy this epic shot that wasn’t even planned that Patrick captured.

Golden Hour.

Golden Hour is the photographer’s best friend and natural ally and is especially true in automotive photography. This picture was taken earlier today while sippin coffee after coming back from today’s All Team Bash held in Rosenberg, TX. It’s always good to have a nice camera nearby, but even cell phones will work, but they’ll always have just a little more ooomph if it’s taken during that magical time period we know that is the golden hour (not shower).
