Deer – 1, Diffuser – 0.

A few weeks ago, the rotary powered FD (the red one, since there’s three Mayday FD’s), took a massive blow by running over a deer carcass in the middle of a highway late at night and did some damage, including completely ripping out carbon fiber rear diffuser number two. I think most people would be upset by this, but in the end, it’s just a piece of carbon fiber, something that can be replaced easily, so no need to sweat it too badly. Even still, we were able to take this cool photo and let Khiem’s magical fingers do the editing to it. Two of our FD’s will be out tomorrow morning at Coffee and Rice at Catalina Coffee at 9am in Houston. If you feel your car has what it takes to grace our site, bring it out tomorrow. We’ll be there this time with cameras. See you there!

Don't worry purists, this one here is all rotor.

Since the internet is already blowing up from this photo we shared on social media outlets, here it is in it’s glory! Taken by Danh Phan, aka Repost King, and edited and owned by Khiem Pham. This photo was taken this past Sunday at our weekly Coffee and Rice meets at Catalina Coffee in Houston, TX.

Sitting Still.

Khiem still shoots cars. He’s been inactive lately with photos mainly because his time has been tied up with his moneypit, the 2JZGTE FD RX-7. Yesterday he had a chance to take it to work so that he could drive it to a local Houston RX-7 meet afterwards. During his downtime, he managed to take a nice shot of the car in a ho-hum surrounding.

Period Blood Red.

Yep. Still got it.

Mayday Garage X The Chronicles WekFest TX Official PreMeet 12.14.13.

It’s official!

Everyone knows we throw some pretty cool meets. We don’t do them too often because if they’re not cool, we won’t do them at all.

Weksos Industries asked us some time ago to host the WekFest TX official Pre Meet and it is our pleasure to present to you what we’ve been working on for quite some time.

On December 14th, 2013, the night before the WekFest TX car show, we will be hosting Houston’s largest Street Style meet we’ve ever attempted at the 8th Wonder Brewery located on 2202 Dallas St, Houston, TX 77003.

Mayday Garage has rented out the brewery for the entire night, and 8th Wonder Brewery will be giving out free beer tours, as well as pouring $3 pints all night long (CASH ONLY!). If you haven’t heard of this brewery, it was started by the same guys that own and operate The Eatsie Boys food truck, which will also be in attendance. Speaking of food trucks, no ricer meet would be complete without bringing out our very own food truck, The Rice Box.

We have also collaborated with our long time friend, Joey Lee, aka, Stickydiljoe, aka The Chronicles to help us throw this awesome event. With his help, we will be pulling cars from all around the TX and third coast states.

With everyone coming in from different cities and states for the greatest car show in Houston, it’s time to show the rest of the world how Houston gets down. We’ve all built our cars to drive, park or track it to our tastes, and it’s time to show where our Street culture lives- on the street.

We have driven up and down the surrounding streets where the Brewery is located and although there are a few dips and bumps around, every car can make it through, IF you use common sense. We will post a “Dumped Friendly” route soon as we get closer to the date.

More details to come.

Prepare thy anuses.

Lights, Camera, Action… Hot Import Nights 2013

Candy pink, carbon fiber panels, decals, and neon lights... yup, I'm certainly at HIN.

Before I start with the HIN coverage, allow me to kindly introduce myself… Yes, I am the ‘new guy’, Paul.

Since around 2009, I have been following the Mayday Garage blog for some cool car photos and event coverage. I would like to say that the Mayday guys were one of the reasons why I started to take photos of cars. Of course, there was the innate love for anything automotive, too. What they were doing with their cameras and cars was something that I also wanted to do. I wanted it so bad, that a friend and I were supposed to start something similar. Good thing that plan never materialized, or else I wouldn’t even be here, sharing with you guys.

It is an honor for me to be a part of Mayday Garage. From what I have gathered, nobody even knew, other than Danh, that I was going to be a new member of the team… which leads me to question the authenticity of the “membership.” Kidding aside, they are cool dudes. I have met Mayday Mikey and JohnP over at the Rice Box Truck for Ricer Wednesday, and have yet to meet the rest of the crew.

This, definitely, sounds exciting. Let’s see where this leads. I’m sure it will be a fruitful teamwork.

Now, on to HIN.
