What started as a small, but high quality gathering of Toyota Supras at the old RSI on the west side of Houston nearly 10 years ago, has now become a full on, balls-to-the-wall, super, mega, ginormous, humangous sized, freakishly high horsepower meet. Did I leave anything out? Me and my roommate, fellow photographer Khiem, have made coming to TX2K events a yearly ritual, just like Christmas. Except with Christmas, I don’t have to request off of work to attend. TX2K11 spans across four action packed, crazy days of track, dyno, show, and drag at various venues. Khiem, owning a single turbo, 2JZ-GTE SC300, understands the need for high horsepower events that includes imports. So armed with our DSLR’s, we joined the 1000+ attendees on our favorite day, the TX2K11 dyno/show and shine day.

This Supra was absolute nuts.

So round and delicious, that ass never gets boring to see.

Two Jay Zee, no shit.

Like the last previous gatherings, this year’s dyno day was held at Lonestar Motorsports Park, AKA LMP, AKA Hennessey Motorsports. This years showing was the largest to date, and by 2pm, the Hennessey staff had already counted 1100+ people that came through their gates to get their fix on super high horsepower cars. What originally started as the TX2K Supra Nationals, the name has been a bit modified, and is known to some people as the TX2K Supra/GTR Nationals. That’s right. GTR, as in Nissan GTR. There was a slew of GTR’s scattered about, some from Hennessey, some from JoTech, and even one from Boulder Nissan. AMS showed off their high horsepower GTRs as well, not to be shown up by the others. Of course, there is always variety at these events, and everything from Twin-Turbo’d Lamborghinis to Ford GT’s were out to play. This was a pissing match of sorts, but a friendly one, as everyone that dyno’d their rides were all smiles. How much did it cost to dyno your car? Free with admission, thanks to various sponsors such as MVP and COBB Tuning, this event will hopefully continue as it has been, despite the record numbers. Peter Blach gets a special MaydayGarage shoutout as being one of the best event organizers we have ever come across. Onto the photos!

The Venerable 2JZ-GTE. Deal with it.

This bright yellow JZA80 stuck out like a sore thumb. In a good way.

When we saw this Supra in the grass, we flocked to it like bugs to a light. So legit.

The Supra had some awesomely meaty tires on CCW Classics. Perfect.

Yeah. Boost Logic went apeshit with the carbon.

....And we love it.

Something is peculiar about this setup...

Ah. There it is. They've replaced the headlight with a vacuum.

I actually heard many jokes about "strap ons"

Soon, with practice, this kid will learn that 1000hp dynos are actually music conducted by turbos.

Souped up and ready to go

This Bomex outfitted Supra set itself off in a sea of relatively stock looking Supras.

Jessica looking super hot behind her 1100hp Supra

We love clean bays like this one. The HKS cam gears give it just enough color.

Hope he has a wide angle, cause there was too much to cover

We spotted Steve Nuss and his ride which we featured previously

With a new front end as well!

This year's MKIII turnout wasn't as strong as last year's, but we still managed to find a few shining examples.

What's a car event without trophies??

I wonder if this Supra is fast.

Our favorite Supra was this one, which combines Show and Go, Track and Street, all rolled into one.

The clear LED tails were a really nice touch.

Anything that could be chrome, was.

The turbo suggests that this supra isn't just for looks.

Both inside and out, this Supra was perfect.

There was a huge turnout for GTR's including this super clean black one

Wide-Oh-Body.

The JoTech pair of GTR's had something up it's sleeves.

There was more HP in these three cars than most Honda Dealerships

This GTR wasn't a show queen either.

GTR's all day.

Godzilla ready to rock.

I was starting to think there were more GTR's than Supras now.

I'm not a rocket scientist, but usually a chute attached to the rear of a car typically signifies it may be fast

Judging by the looks of this GTR, it's also not to be messed with.

Carbon Fiber GTR wheels?

I really liked the exhaust tips on this car. Very Batmobile-ish

It wasn't restricted to just R35's, as this R32 GT-R makes it's way to the dyno

Yes! Another Straight six turbocharged motor besides the 2J

The AWD dyno had it's work cut out

Our favorite GTR was this awesome example from Boulder Nissan

The carbon used in this GTR was ridiculous!

Horsepower dog says, "woof"

2J's in IS300's...

2J's in 240's...

2J's in S2000's....

You could put a 2J in any car at this event, and it would be completely normal and acceptable.

It didn't matter where you came from, you were here for the cars.

The S2000 garnered a lot of attention

Although for some kids, like Brandon here, could care less. Nice shirt!

There were definitely more DSLR's than Supras

MVP making that paper

Always a pleasure to see scenes like this.

TX2K11: Bringing families closer.

It wasn't just Supras and GTR's though! Let's take a look at the other cars there

The new STi Sedan. Cheeky.

The rear looked just as good, big wing and all.

Tell me more...

Plenty of bikes...

Plenty of Challengers...

And just plain plenty of, well, pretty much everything.

This SC had some sick Work Equips on it

Domestic cars with front mounts? Unheard of.

Yeah right. At TX2K11, this is the norm

Sticky tires are sticky.

I kept staring at this Vette because it had such a sinister look to it.

This hoodless Viper was trying to show us something

Okay. You have our attention.

Now that's an interesting turbo setup.

Yes, even newer vipers were in attendance

And for good reason too

There were bikes everywhere like this GXR-1000

Picture time!

I stopped bitching about carrying two DSLR's after seeing this guy

We spotted some orange in a nearby trailer, and ran over to see what it was

What do you suppose the "TT" means?

Hmmm. A Galant VR-4. Very rare.

After posting up a 600+whp dyno, we deemed this car sleeper of the show

Instigator.

The man, Peter, doing his best to let all 1000+ attendees know what was going on.

Friends. How many of us have them?

This is why you bring friends with you to a dyno day.

Whew! That was a TON of photos! That’s it for now! Another year under the belt, and another successful event for the Houston scene!
But wait! There’s more to come! This was only the daytime! Stay tuned for our coverage of the TX2K11 night meet and Bikini contest by HPD in our next installment!

Yes. We will show you what you missed.
