Cupcakes, girls, cars, and friends seem to be the formula that drives the ever growing Cupcake meets here in Texas. This past weekend I ventured out to Dallas witness the biggest cupcake meet to date. The CCMeet group themed this event “Cupcakin’ for Kids”, a fund raiser event that would give all proceeds towards the Scottish Rite Hospital for children, and every car that was to attend the event paid a nominal $15.00 to give to the charity. I knew the event was going to be of pretty good size when I asked Tiffany, the President of the Cup Cake Meet a couple of days before how many cars she had registered, she mildly threw out 300 cars. Now, 300 cars for a regular meet is a nominal number, however, we are talking about people “paying money” so 300 is a pretty damn good pre-registration goal. When we arrived the day of the event, 300 was a laughable number because 2 hours before the event even started there were in excess of 500 cars.

Cars as far as the eye could see.

To Japanese goodness everyone came out.
Mayday Garage isn’t exactly the most charity oriented group on the planet, but, being that we help sponsor the Cup Cake Meets it was nice to know that an event we contribute towards is helping others as well. Hopefully the Gods will grace us with some good luck on the street with our “speed on arrival.”

Plenty of Ass
A big reason I enjoy this type of event is because it is all inclusive, and no one is shut out. Meets like this lay out canvas for many novice tuners to come out and bring their whips and hang with some of the big boys. And just like a box of chocolates, you really have no idea what the heck you are going to get. From good rice to bad, you really see what is all out there, especially since the Dallas events seem to encompass more of Central Texas cars.

I also think that one of the reasons that the meets continue to grow is the ration of women to guys is abnormally off. I mean, it is like 50% woman to men, which is unheard of for any car event, of any kind. But this meet changes the rules when it comes to this fact, and it works. Tiffany, the “President” of the Cupcake meets also brings on a slew of girls to model on cars and such, but, this is an automotive blog so I will only share this picture of this girl’s really nice tattoo. What do you think?

Awesome Tatoo..
I always see this CRV at the most random of events, a Dallas local and I have no idea who it is. However, this thing has a beast of a B20/V-tech Frankenstein turbo motor sitting on what I believe to be Acura TL rims. Talk about a hustler, man.

At big meets, I have got to find an easier way to get around. A scooter, Ruckus, anything. These people seem to already have it together, or at least try to.

Big Walks lead to scooterhunting.

NOS is everywhere, even on a damned exhaust!

Mopeds are good too, just dont wanna show your friends..

Ruckus fun

Apparently so.
The first cupcake meet that I went to was last year. Though just a meet, I personally see a lot of potential in its future growth as a great all around quarterly meet here in Texas. Not very many events tend to cater to the Central Texas crowd and this one that seems to be doing the job nicely.

Trends

Not so serious

Some Bikes came out to show charity support as well.

Throughout the duration of this Cup Cake Meet, the fund raising total had amassed to over $12,000 for the Scottish Rite Fund. That is breaching upon 900 cars which is freaking nuts.

Twas Party time

..zing!
With that being said, for a meet to raise $12,000 for a charity is pretty damn impressive and says quite a bit. Congrats to the Cup Cake People for a successful event. I am looking forward to the next Cup Cake Meet and hopefully at the next Cup Cake Meet, I will get some damn Cupcakes!
