Bringing some JDM goodness to the table for I.R. Drift this year is Cody Surman. Cody, the senior of the local drifters competing in Import Reactor Drift will be running and gunning in his JZX100 Chaser. Drifting pretty is about the most “on point” phrase that describes Cody and his uber clean Chaser when it slides around the track. But don’t be confused by the cars devilishly good looks, because Cody is bringing the heat.

Cody has also been picked up by local hard park crew team Kazouku. Kazouku who will also be running about 15 cars deep at import Reactor will be out in full force backing their main man Cody. Both parties are hella excited about the collaboration and we can expect to see some crazy stuff come from these guys!

Hard Park x Drift

When we met up Cody at his shop near the heights district here in Houston the weather could not have been any worse. Rain, night fall, and strong winds made a photo shoot of his car nearly impossible. But when we arrived, Cody was stoked and the guy even washed his car in the rain! It was crazy, but we guess if you drive a car like this, you can’t let it get tooo dirty, right Cody? Cody has a shop called SMT with local drifter Will Parsons. It is a rather cool underground shop with graffiti on the walls and random drift cars laying everywhere…it is almost like a scene out of a post apocalyptic Japanese Anime. But needless to say, we made the shoot happen, and here we are. We have always been a fan of Cody’s tasteful touch on cars and we love the fact that he rolls his “Works” on the track. Hot shit. Note: we kept these photos very limited because we are going to bring the mayday hammer of justice to this car.

Let’s get to know Cody a bit….

I started drifting in 2005 with many of the local Texas drifters at the old school Daily Drifter events. Originally I started drifting with an S13 just like many of the other drifters out there and eventually moved into the Chaser a couple of years ago.

When I found the Chaser I barely knew anything about it, but I knew that I wanted to jump on the chance to drift a car that could have three passengers!

I have not traveled much as far as competitions go because I like to keep it local with GGP and Mineral Wells events that Mr. Aaron Losey throws down. Keeping it fun.

Bling Blang

Also recently I opened SMT garage with my good friend Will Parsons and it has been keeping me busy, but when I get the chance I love to drift. I want to give some shout outs to people that I definitely would not be into drifting without; Ameen, Amir Ronald, Alecx, Will Stew, Aaron, B Brad, Casey, Slideshow, BigDdash, and Madman. I am the older of the drifters and man has it been fun watching these guys get better over the years.

I also rock A/C, Toyota AC in the Texas heat baby!
